As for release date, if it were any other studio than Paramount I would say that it'll be the usual October release that most big May movies get. But considering Paramount and their recent track record on big ones like Transformers and Cloverfield, I would say it would be a somewhat safe bet to say that mid August or early September would be it. Now, I know neither of the two that I mentioned made it to Blu-ray, I don't think that'll slow them down. I'm gonna say that September 2, if not sooner, would probably see the release of Iron Man on both DVD and, more importantly, Blu-ray for us here in North America.

Didn't Sony have the Japanese distribution rights for Iron Man and Hulk? Some kind of deal they made with Marvel?

That is correct. It'll be interesting to see how the Sony Japanese Blu's stack up to the Paramount/Universal US versions. I may be importing . . .

Paramounts BD releases prior to going HD-DVD were pretty decent. I would see no reason to import the Japanese version unless it has serious extras.

Enjoyed every minute of this movie in the theater. I expect awesome sound and hoping for great PQ from the BD. Cannot wait!
