Default Don't Buy Nathan Drake's gun - FAKE

Quote:
It's hard to play through Uncharted: Drake's Fortune without wanting to be Nathan Drake at some point or another. Well you may not be able to look like him without major cosmetic surgery, but you can dress like him and, now, fondle his weapon. An airsoft replica of Drake's gun is available now for $170 at King Of Swords and comes with a free aluminum carrying case. For the full specs check out the site. It's a pretty replica, certainly, but we'd much rather put it in a glass case and stare at it than actually shoot it. Perhaps that's just us.

This is frickin' awesome. If only is wasn't so damn overpriced!

Can't see much that makes it unique to UDF. I'd rather have that press kit/version of the game with all the goodies:

Is this actually licensed merch or is this just an airsoft dealer selling you a standard airsoft gun with some reference to a video game on his site? Unless the gun is actually licensed and/or stamped with Uncharted branding I would have to say this is a rip off...

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/05/20/...d-replica-gun/

"Commenting on the "replica Uncharted gun," that we posted about yesterday, Sony has told Gamesindustry.biz that it is not officially endorsed and they certainly don't condone it. The gun is supposed to be a replica of Drake's weapon from the 2007 gem, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Without official licensing from Sony, however, selling it as such is just a sneaky attempt at cashing in on the game's success.

Sony has said that they are "investigating the source of this product and will proceed with the most appropriate action." Appropriate action, in this case, probably means letting loose their pack of half-starved, feral lawyers. So don't expect it to be around for too much longer."

Of course, but its still copyright infringement.

I would think a company would be smart enough to clear it through official channels instead of assuming no one would notice.

If they could not get clearance they should have just released it with the guns name and not have drake anywhere on it.

But I thought his gun was based on a real gun. So having that gun would be like having his wouldn't it?
or am I just wrong in all that?

They are selling in on the precedence that it is Nathan Hales gun, they used Nathans name and probably some other licensed things without asking permission or paying for the use of the IP.

They will be probably visited by many lawyers, this happens alot, alot of companies make items based on other universes use images and declare it official without receiving the blessing of the company that owns the ip.

I hear the seven seas calling a mate, the pirates are on the high seas followed quickly by galleons filled with royal lawyers..

In the end the gun in the game is a Beretta this is the exact gun he uses in the game if you wanted a replica of that gun this would be the one to get, I wouldn't want a replica of any video game anything but I'm not that nerdy when it comes to these things so I don't really know why this is cool it's just an air gun...

Exactly. If you want the airsoft gun it's readily available and at a more reasonable price. It just won't have any reference to Uncharted with it. I was given a few Japanese airsoft guns as gifts when I was young, including a steel Beretta M92F which was John McClaine's gun from Die Hard. The Japanese guns do not contain any of the bright orange or yellow markers that are required in the US, so it looks real.

Here was the real kicker..

""PS3 Uncharted Drake's Fortune Full Metal M92 Airsoft Gun" was in no way an officially endorsed or condoned product, despite its use of the game's artwork in advertisement."

http://feeds.joystiq.com/~r/weblogsi.../~3/294218311/

"Sony Computer Entertainment has declared its intention to take "the most appropriate action" against an online retailer making its Beretta and butter from a replica air gun. The weapon, based on one wielded by the goofy, treasure-hunting protagonist of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, is currently listed for $169.88 on the King of Swords website. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, a Sony representative noted that the "PS3 Uncharted Drake's Fortune Full Metal M92 Airsoft Gun" was in no way an officially endorsed or condoned product, despite its use of the game's artwork in advertisement.

This isn't the first time a publisher has rushed to arms over the sale of replica weapons. In February of this year, Square Enix took stern legal action against those hoping to sell real things based on fake things."

Originally her hair was brunette they changed it to blond later in the production.
Some of the earliest showing of it had her hair as a brunette..

I have no idea why I said that and I unofficial retract the statement and post correction of drake in this post, and forever live in shame for the next 10 minutes.
