The 905 is a great receiver. Weighs a ton (55lbs). has four hdmi in/two out. sound is surprisingly good, with "the absolute sound" magazine giving it a golden ear award for 2008. the amp is solid, with a huge toroidal power supply and 130 wpc. when all channels are driven, the amp pumps out about 120wpc, unlike some other brands.

on the other hand, unless you have firmware 1.08 or higher, the DSP will need to be upgraded to avoid the dreaded DTS HD Master audio "bomb" which also aflicts Yamaha and Marantz. The unit gets extremely hot, with the heat being generated by the Reon graphics scaler, so it really does need a lot of open space.

140 w/ch, with over 126/wch all driven.
Fronts may bridge to 220w/ch also
Also can stream from WMP11 through ethernet (.mp3, .wav, iTunes, etc.)
Uses Reon for upscaling.
PCM1796 DAC's like the ones found in the $5,000 Denon 5308CI and $5,000 Yamaha RX-Z11
Direct DSD>Analog conversion

Definitely an excellent receiver.

Thanks for the info. Is it easy to stream music via the ethernet port or is it a complicated setup?

I haven't tried it, but based on the manual it looks pretty easy if you have a router.

The only thing I don't like is the color of the display.. I know details but it bugs me nontheless.. I like the color display of the 805.

They are the same colour - the picture palatte is off in Crutchfield's pictures I believe, and on several sites with pictures of the 805.

I remember having the older Onkyo THX reciever (804?), the model before the DTS-MA decoding etc.. and it was more white (display) like the 805 crutchfield picture. I want to make sure I get the white display and not the green looking one.
