Cool MFW-15 In Da House! FINALLY!

Thats right, Received it today! I get a lot of stuff thru UPS and they usually come around 4-5pm so being as how I used to work for them and I know their schedules, I figured he would be making his Next Day Air business stops before the 10:30am commit time. So, my town being rather small I went down the 2 major roads in the area and found him at 10:00 and picked it up off him.:rocker:

Got it home, pkg still in good condition. Took it out of the box and I couldn't believe my eyes...... One of the most BEAUTIFUL pieces of equipment I've ever seen. The cabinet is by far much better than I had imagined.

Now I hooked it up in place of my HTIB 220watt Onkyo subwoofer.

MUSIC:

Hits pretty deep however it doesn't seem to be able to keep up at higher volumes. The gain is a bit less than 1/2 way. Rock songs sounded good but Hip/Hop-Rap seems as though its missing something. The woofer bottoms out way to easily and becomes distorted.

MOVIES:

This is where the MFW-15 excels. Hits hard, deep, and sound quality is EXCELLENT. I wish I had the extra cash to get 2 of them though. Started out with the Blu-Rays watching RE: Apocalypse, then onto Never Back Down and currently watching I Am Legend.

I came to realize that I need to buy a longer sub cable because the current position of the subwoofer does not allow it to reach its max potential. Walking around my room I noticed it would be MUCH MUCH louder and deeper it different parts of the room.

OVERALL:

I believe the MFW-15 is an excellent bang for the buck. However, In my opinion the woofer should be swapped out for something that has a better excursion because I don't think it can keep up with the amp and cabinet. Nonetheless I am happy with my purchase, perhaps I'll get a 2nd MFW-15 in the near future.

....and before the "THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS" ranting goes on, here ya go. And yes, this is my bedroom, it is messy, and NO you cannot see any of the wires except when the flash goes off because its much too bright.

What kind of speakers are you running with the new sub? That sub should handle Rap and R&B music easily. Could be the crossover point?

As I was checking out your pic’s (nice sub BTW), my co-worker was looking over my shoulder, and said “Hey – that’s a cool looking washer & dryer”

I was thinking the same thing. With movies you won't notice the cross-over much since low bass is LFE. Sweet sub anyway. I wonder how it stacks up to this http://hsuresearch.com/products/uls15.html

The speakers are just the ones that came with an Onkyo HTIB that I bought last year. Then I upgraded to the TX-SR805 receiver, now the sub, next is speakers. Speakers sound excelllent though. No distortion whatsoever!

Not sure. On the subwoofer itself I've got it set around the 80Hz mark and then I ran the Audessy setup mic again for the subwoofer.

I apologize again for the crappy pics, however I was so eager to get this thing setup and running that I didn't clean up :-(

The MFW-15 is a highly rate sub . The point that I was making is that I don't think that one would notice much of a difference between two, even though the HSU is twice the price. Your sub should be able to handle hip-hop effortlessly, or anything else.

The room is 14' x24'. What you don't see is the queen sized bed and DVD/Blu-ray custom shelf in the back and a refrigerator. I have my side of the room, the GF has her side. Thats why you'll see large teddy bear and some roses I bought her the other day.

My parents never would have let a gf live at their place. Fort Meyers is messed up first Mindy McCready now this guy.

Nope. Would be nice though.

The house is around 3900sqft, 6bedrooms, 4 baths, 3 car garage, and its brand new. But its a KB Home so they don't give you much. We've atleast got 2 complete A/C systems for the 2 floors. Cleaning this place sucks.

Awesome. I actually moved from NY in 2004 and I'm actually located in Lehigh Acres now in one of the nice golf gated communities(yes, there are some in Lehigh haha), but I just tell everyone Fort Myers because more people actually know where Fort Myers is compared to if I told everyone Lehigh Acres.

Haha ya I know where Lehigh is. Because where I used to live was in Alva right on the caloosahatchee river. So ya I tell everyone I'm from Ft. Myers also, cuz I say "Alva" and they're like huh? but anyways your theater area is sweet. And that sub is sick, if I had the room and no neighbors below me I'd have a 15inch too haha.

Also that looks likes a traxxas t-maxx on your shelf or the new version of it. I could be wrong cuz I havent done R/C since I lived there and worked at Hobbie Warehouse on 41. But those things are bad ass. Later
