Default Indiana Jones (Spoilers)

I am just curious about people's beliefs and their reactions to this movie.

aliens refers to interdimensional beings, demons, angels, etc. whatever you believe they are.

multiple choices allowed.

The first time I saw it I hated it. The second time I found it pretty entertaining, but sloppy and nowhere near as good as any of the original three. The script was pretty weak, Marion was seriously neutered compared to Raiders, and Indy seemed like a background piece through the second half of his own movie.

Hopefully Indy 5 is around the corner. I know Ford and Spielberg are in. Let's hope Lucas finds something else do do and just lets Spielberg and Ford handle it so it can be done right. I'm really hoping they read both sides of the reactions to this . . . I think some people feel almost betrayed by Indy 4.

Wow . . . posted before the poll went up. Didn't know that's what you were looking for . I believe in the possibility of aliens, although that's not the reason I liked the parts of the movie that I did. But it's not why I didn't like it either. While some people thought that was the worst part, I found it just as "Indy" as the Grail or the Ark.

I think, with what little we know about our own planet, even our own bodies, that is is pretty ignorant to say that, in the infinite reaches of space there is absolutely no possibility of alien life. Hell, we find new species here on Earth every once in awhile, and we've been kicking around here for quite some time.

Where's the "I believe that it's possible aliens might exist even though I personally have never seen one and that the movie was okay, not really bad, but not really great either" choice?

...What, too specific?

Anyway, that's how I feel about the movie. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't spectacular either.

Wrong forum. Should be in the Movie & TV Discussion forum until a BD release date is announced.

I am a cautious skeptic about aliens. I'm not convinced with any certainty one way or the other.

Saw the movie on opening night and left hating it. A few days have passed and I've gone back and watched the orginals again and I must say that it's much better than I gave it credit. I would still place it on the bottom of the Indy list or at least even with Crusade. I was 14 when I saw Crusade in the theater. After watching again and considering how I might have viewed it had I seen it for the first time at the age I am now, I don't think I would have liked it the first time either.

The alien thing is still weak to me. But not because of my views on aliens. I'm a big Sci-Fi buff and I love Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Superman and anything else that features beings from other worlds. Maybe I just wasn't prepared for it in an Indy movie. Kind of like seeing a gunfight at the O.K. corral on Star Trek. Oh wait, they did that didn't they!?

Everybody is all up in arms about the aliens...I guess EVERYONE that saw Raiders or Crusade believes in God/Christ and that EVERYONE that saw Temple believes in cults that rip out people's hearts...

Given the ideas presented in the first 3 films, why is this considered so much more far fetched? I believe that it is because nobody knows as much about the REAL crystal skulls that exist. One is in the British museum...it looks like a normal skull, but nobody can explain how it was manufactured. All part of the myth explained in the movie...knowing the backstory makes the movie a bit more enjoyable.

I do not believe in Aliens and find the movie terrible. Now I wouldn’t say I have a problem with movies about aliens, I just didn’t want or expect to see an Indiana Jones movie about it. The main problem I have with this movie was the story and the writing. It never truly feels like the other 3 movies and I left the theatre very disappointed. I hope they do make a #5 because I do not want this movie to be the last impression of Indiana Jones that I have. Go back to what made 1-3 so good and keep George Lucas away from everything to do with movies. The man has lost his mind.

I believe in extraterrestrials as it is in my opinion very close minded to assume that we would be the sole forms of intelligent life in an infinitely enormous universe. Astronomers and researchers have even suggested that there is possibly life on Tau Ceti. What we have researched and explored is the equivalent of pulling a grain of sand from the Sahara Desert. Do I believe that the United States has aliens hidden away? No. Do I believe that locals in rural towns reguarily see U.F.O'S? No. Do I believe we will see Aliens or have contact in this lifetime, or even in the next dozen? Probably not.

I enjoyed the movie.

i believe in intelligent life in the universe. i do not believe that any of them have ever come into contact with earth for pretty much the same reason we have not seen them (too far, universe is friggin' huge )
i enjoyed the movie. i would've enjoyed it more if
[Show spoiler]the UFO wasn't shown and everything was just sucked up into oblivion instead, that would've been a much better ending in my opinion.

Did anybody notice the hint in the beginning of the movie. I didn't when I saw it but at the end I realized what was in the beginning

[Show spoiler]The base out in the middle of nowhere. warehouse with all the government secrets. The big doors that have the numbers 5 and 1. Area 51?

ya, i just caught a glimpse of that before it went into the next scene, thought it was pretty cool. the very beginning was pointless with that race thing. idk usually things in movies aren't there for nothing, this seems to be an exception unless someone enlightens me

It's a setup shot, just to establish that they're out in the middle of nowhere. According to IMDB it was actually shot after everything else as they didn't have a way to really start the film. I liked it in that it felt like the beginning of Raiders and Last Crusade . . . really open and natural. I was actually excited because I thought it indicated that the whole film would have that feel. Unfortunately the CGI assault began just moments later.

And yes, the hangar is Area 51.

I think they were just there for "comic relief." I don't think they served any purpose. But that goes without saying
