Default Either PS3 or TV not Supporting 1080p, Help?

So, I turned on my PS3 Today, and It my TV was Saying "Unsupported Format", So After Fiddling around with the PS3, I got it Displaying 1080i. Thing Is, I think It may be the Crap TV, it's a Philips Ambilight. I tried different inputs. no luck. It's a 60 Gb Ps3.

So There's any Easy Test for This, but our Other Blu-Ray Player is Lent to my Cousin, So I'm Personally Hoping it's the PS3, but I think Secretly I'd Rather it be the POS TV. Any Tips or Anything? Just Started Happening Today, Well Actually, It Happened once Before, but then i just Reset it and it was Fine

Doubt this is the case, but do you have it plugged into an HDMI switch. I had mine plugged into an HDMI switch that said it supported 1080p, but when I'd switch my PS3 to 1080p the screen would get jumpy. When I unplugged it from the switch and directly into my tv it worked fine.

First go to video settings set of course to hdmi and instead of hitting custom hit manual, and select 720p and 1080p and leave all others unchecked except 480p.

IF problem consists take your ps3 and cable and take it to a buds house that has a hd tv that uses hdmi plug in, if problem persists change hdmi cords, if problem persists call sony.

If problem is gone go find a buddy that has a ps3 have him bring his ps3 and see if it works.

This should help print a better picture.

According to the TV overview your TV should support 1080p.

Then you need to either build a altar to give thanks to whichever deity you worship and thank the stars.

Now that your world is a better place you might still want to try what I said in case bad cable, cable not in all the way etc.. dunno or that experiment of trying someone elses tv and ps3...

In case this happens again you can find the faulty equipment.

it is not the PS3.

it is either the way it is connected, a setting that is wrong, or the TV.

I work for an Electronics Store, so I have no Shortage of HDMI cables, and I'll be taking the playstation in to the store, but I'm on Maternity Leave, and so I'll be going there sometime soon
