Probably gets asked all the time, but:
If I don't want to keep all my Warner and Disney, etc. bonus movie Digital Copies (at 1-2G each) lying around on my hard drive after being downloaded from iTunes before the codes expire... I'm guessing that piracy restrictions have the files only transferable to three devices or so before locking--If so, is it possible to burn the files off to a separate disk, and then reload the files off the disks and resynch onto my iPod when needed? Would I be using up copy flags? |

I don't think that this is possible without breaking a number of laws. You could google a solution as there are some ways out there but I have a feeling that most countries laws do not allow you to do so, otherwise people could just make a copy to disc and then endlessly copy the disc itself and distribute.
I also know that this forum does not allow discussions that promote this type of behaviour. Googling will reveal all with a little patience and the right questions asked. |

I'm not totally sure about iTunes, but with Windows media the license is kept seperate from the files. So then you can recopy the file from a DVD as long as you copy it back to the original computer (and it's DRM is still intact.)

Why don't you just move the movie files to an external drive? They're just files... and the DRM is tied to your iTunes ID. When you're ready to put it back onto your computer to load into your iPod, you can just "add to library", and the file is copied back to your iTunes library.
As they're tied to your iTunes ID, you can add your file to up to 5 computers that you've authorized with your ID. And if you upgrade your computer, you can deauthorize your old computer and add your new one. Last edited by nutinhoney; 04-17-2010 at 03:32 PM. |
