Default Do you brag about your Blu-rays?

I'm sure the thought has creeped up in your mind at some point. But in all honesty, how do you feel about your Blu-ray and High-Def experience? Do you love to show off the fact that you are an early adopter - rife with technology your compatriots and peers can only see at your house? Do you take pride in the fact that you have this technology well before everyone else? Mock people who still buy bootleg movies or DVDs?

Personally, I can't say I feel smug about it, that's just wrong (Or is it?). I love having people over to enjoy the movie experience along with myself! That's part of the reason for my investment in A/V products, to enjoy the experience with others and spread the word. Although - I'm not going to lie, I do make fun of people who spend money on bootleg movies, pirated copies and laugh at them - "How do you watch something like this?!" And I do threaten with bodily harm anyone who states "What's the difference?"

What's your stance on the matter?

as whytewash mocks me, i got my own collection thread!

But i like to talk to people and tell people what i brought. is that bragging? or just making converstation if people were asking about it?
I also tell people i was blu all the way from day 1 and proud of it. nothing wrong to be proud and brag about our format that won the war! ?but i dont degrade others when their preference were differently.

Most people know very little about Blu-ray until I explain it to them for the most part. What people really don't get is when I tell them I've spent thousands on my speakers. That seems to rattle their cages a little.

I like having friends over to watch movies. They're always floored by the PQ and AQ. Shoot 'Em Up was a big hit.

Whoa, wait. People actually buy bootleg movies instead of torrenting them?

I like the "sleeper" effect. Last week I invited some friends over who don't have HD anything yet. So I go, "Hey, lets watch a movie!"

Put on The Fifth Element and blow them away. Then the usual comments such as "Holy Sh$t, OMG what is this?" tend to follow.

No need to brag. Blu ray speaks for it's self. (But I DO get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside and a knowing giggle or two)

I don't really like to brag about it . . . I really don't like having people over, so I don't have as much opportunity for pimping the Blus. Depending on who I'm talking to I will or won't mention Blu-ray. Depending on who it is I might not feel like explaining it. I'll mention Blu-ray in casual conversation, but I don't go out of my way to bring it up. I feel like kind of a douche when I say I don't buy DVD's anymore, even though I'm not trying to sound elitist or anything.

same here. no one at my work knows anything about blu-ray so I rarely if ever bring it up. I'm afraid they'll think I'm a snob or something if I say I don't buy dvds. They already think its weird enough when I told them I don't watch cable television! Why watch cable tv though when the quality is so much worse than blu-ray though? I just can't stomach it; that and most of the shows on today suck.

no u sound liek a gurl

Anyway, my dad is fanatical about coming over to watch Blu Rays. Last time he actually lasted 2 hours before he was pulling me downstairs to put something on.

I don't really talk about it too much but I like to be a dick to my co-worker (he's void of HD anything) if we find ourselves in BB at lunch or something. I walk into the Blu section, he tries to follow.
"I'm sorry, you can't be in this section."
"What? Dude, c'mon!"
"I don't make the rules. I can talk to you even if you're in the regular section. Please go over there before you get me in trouble."

I did some bragging rights to some HDDVD fans and MS fans. My moms BF is all up in DVD and says its good enough but I tell him that the PQ and AQ on some BD films is amazing and he says "uh huh". Wait till transformers comes on BD so I can show him a difference between his DVD and my BD.

I purchased a PS3 to play Blu ray - not sure what there is to brag about. Kind of hard to brag about buying something that most other adults could afford.

At work I'm known as the PS3 movie person now. I was talking in the office about buying Rambo but complaining about it being like 30$, and my manager was like "Oh that's for the PS3". I tried to explain that it's Blu-ray and not just on the PS3, but it so didn't work.
