Default 5.1 classification

What is the official 5.1 classification for a home theater system?

not exactly sure if this is what you mean... but a 5.1 system uses 6 channels (5 for audio, one for the low bass frequency dubbed .1)

a 5.1 system contains a center channel, a left channel, right channel (front) and a left and right channel for the rears (5 speakers) plus a subwoofer (.1)

5.1 is the simple surround sound for home theaters, most people use this.
7.1 is almost the same, except there are 4 speakers around you, 2 beside and 2 in back.

Most people have 5.1, I have a 7.1.

I hope that helps.

Yes thanks because i wanted also a 7.1 but if there is not so much difference then the 5.1 is great.
