Default Blu-Ray Authoring

How long before DVD Studio Pro and Final Cut Pro work seamlessly with Blu-ray? The FCP suite has me spoiled, i don't want to buy specialized software!

Does anybody have any compatibility issues with some raw media not working in some burners and not playing on some players? Are the different pieces (raw media, authoring, burning and playback) stable and reliable with consistent results or is there a matrix of what it takes to easily and reliably author blu-ray discs

You old timers will know what i mean!

It seemed like years before raw media, software (authoring and burning) and hardware for CD's was stable and reliable.

It seemed like years before raw media, software (authoring and burning) and hardware for DVD's was stable and reliable. At the beginning of DVD authoring, you needed $10,000 worth of software and a DLT drive to make even simple DVD's.

Will the Blu-Ray genesis be easier?

Thanks

Yeah it's kind of annoying but you can edit in FCP and then author a Blu Ray in Adobe Encore CS3.

Actually that is encouraging.. I have a copy of Encore. Is it a stable product that will play predictably on players?

As far as I know it's a good product. I don't have a BD burner, all I have done is make a BD disc image to write to a blank DVD. (All I have right now is a spindle of CD-Rs) that isn't going to do a lot of good. I will have to go and get a blank DVD-R, write the thing then see if it will play in a BD player. As far as will a BD-R disc work? I would be really surprised if it didn't. It asks you when you make a new project is it Blu Ray or DVD? It's quite easy to use. I edited a movie in full HD on i-Movie, exported in to a Quicktime 1080x1920 uncompressed file, then imported it in to Encore...Not a problem!

good to know... I'd like to find a simple way to make blu-ray dvd's on the MAC.

Just for special presentation purposes.

We were able to make a HD DVD on a MAC using dvd Studio Pro and a standard DVD-R.
