Default PIXAR movies look better on vivid.

Anyone else notice that pixar movies look better when on the "vivid" picture setting(sony TV's, im sure others have a similar setting)?? They are like the only films or shows that I can tolerate this setting. Everything else, I use my custom cinema calibration... but vivid kicks ass on pixar movies.

Try it.

I noticed that they look good too, but you have to realize your color spectrum is completely out of wack. After calibration, I like my settings better.

I don't see how...

How would you describe the difference between vivid and your post-calibration settings?

Vivid - Overly Cool
Post Calibration - Perfectly Warm

Well keep in mind that some of those Sony TV's only resolve about 490/1080 lines of motion resolution when in Vivid mode, as tested on the XBR4.

That....is brutal!!!

They can't even resolve 1080/1080 from a static image, which every 1080p tv should come close to!

They also don't deinterlace properly in vivid mode.

Quote:
As with the de-interlacing test, static and moving resolution results were picture mode dependent. “Custom” and “Cinema” modes produced 1080 “lines” of static resolution and 600 lines of motion resolution. “Standard” mode produced1080/580 static/motion and “Vivid,” the factory default produced a disappointing, but not surprising 880/450 static/motion. This is yet another reason to get this set out of the “Vivid” mode.
