Default Which TV?!

http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisi...model=40RF350U
or

http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...V+42TA648BX-37

They're both the same price. The Philips will be a 42".

Warranty and stuff is no concern. They're both through Costco.

It's between those two, no other options.

Quite honestly, being Costco (and if you can afford to front the $$), buy them both and compare them at home for awhile using the same source material. Once you decide which one you like better, return the other within 90 days. They've got the best resturn policy!

This will assure you that you've made the right choice, and will prevent the "what-if's" later down the road. My 2-cents.

I bought the 47" Philips from Costco earlier this year and am very happy with my choice. The Toshiba is probably nice as well, but I'm not sure you'll be able to tell a difference in PQ between the two. What you should be able to tell the difference in is size, as the 2" should be noticeable.

Try active control on w/o light sensor.

I just bought the Phillips 42" - joined the 1080p club (even though I still can't tell the difference. May I will beable to now because I have new glasses and I was almost blind in my left eye!). Kinda funny because I bought the same model for my son about two months ago. His main tv was bigger than mine! I had a 32" (720p) that's going in the bed room now. For movies I have a projector (max res is 1920x1080 native is 1280x720). I will post again today and let you know how much I like it.

Everone that comes from my son's house says "You must love your son an awful lot!" I do, but not because I buy him stuff. As a matter of fact that's the last think electroinc that I will buy him - He's on his own now This TV will be my last purchase for a while until 1080p projectors come down. No more upgrades for a while.
