Default MGS4 Makes Fun of Xbox :D:D:D

From endgadget:

Quote:
We've already seen some of the product placement to be found in the soon-to-be-released Metal Gear Solid 4, and it looks like PlayStation 3 users are in store for a bit of reinforcement about their console buying decision as well. As you can see for yourself in the video after the break, at one point during the game, Metal Gear Solid's Otacon takes a not-so-subtle dig at the Xbox 360's non-HD disc format by asking you to swap disc 1 for disc 2, only to suddenly realize that you're using a Blu-ray disc, and a dual-layer one at that, which then prompts him to go on about "what an age we live in." At least there's no HD DVD reference to further rub it in, though we wouldn't doubt that there's one of those lurking somewhere in the game as well.

After all the trouble licensing the name from Otakon (which the name is taken from apparently one of the designers of the first game attended one of the first ones), you'd figure they could at least spell it right

the only one that takes up more than one disc is metal gear solid i believe. the other ones only take up one disc, except for mgs2 substance and mgs3 subsistance, which is the game + bonus material. im sure a two disc MGSIVS will come out too.

the xbox would have needed 6 discs for mgs iv, and tats just the game.

its 5 DVD9's and a DVD5 for the raw 50GB of data (50 diveded by 8.5) but I would assume its more than that due to the fact that the BD version needs one copy of for example snake, yet the 360 version needs a copy of snake on every disc, i would assume that that kind of data would be something like 16GBs so impossible to put on even multiple DVDs.

BTW I was the one who found out the whole 6 discs thing

The 360 only holds 6.8 GBs of data I believe.

Hal's name was derived from Otakon because he Stated he was an Anime fan in the first MGS, and also because like Wicky said one of the original designers likes Anime as well and attends them annualy. But due to legal issues his name has always been Otacon. It's a Paulie, Pauly type thing, they both mean the same just spelled a little different. His name was never spelled wrong, it was never spelled "right" in the first place.

Edit: supposdly this joke or whatever you wanna call it is very early in the game not late into it. So I doubt it's a crack at the PS1 version. Who will ever know though besides the dev team?

Is he supposed to have trouble with English too?

"We're on PS3 system!" Is this awkward, bad grammar on purpose or is this part of a crappy translation I can look forward to suffering through when (and if) I pick up my copy on Friday?

Otacon is short for Otaku-Convention.

That's what the character Otacon said in MGS1.

I thought Otacon was because that's a term they use for the nerdy IT guys in japan or something. So Kojima used that name and made the guy actually look cool and apealing. Idk. I thought I saw that in the MGS Saga dvd vol. 1.

Said by who? Like I said it was stated by the guy who originally found it on youtube that this little joke is EARLY IN THE GAME. The first MGS game didn't make you swap disc until halfway through the game! I wouldn't be surprised if a little bit later in the game he cracks a joke about disc 3!
