Here are some links to TV's I am Looking at, and the Price I can get them at, which one should I go for, I am looking at 1000 for a HDTV, but might go 46" if I need to. I will be within 3-5ft of the TV. Also some sets have 5ms and some are 8ms with 120Hz. Should I get the 120Hz, or stay with the 5ms. I play alot of video games, and love sports. Also watch tons of blu-rays. (All TVs are 1080p.)
Samsung 40" LCD 5ms response time, $1,080 Samsun 40" LCD 5ms, Newer Look, $1,080 Samsung 46" 120HZ $1599 Samsung 40" 120HZ Touch of Color $1599 Samsung 40" has game mode $1235 Samsung 40" Touch of Color $1770 Samsung 46" $2000 Please respond with which one I should get below. Thanks. Last edited by caliblue15; 06-03-2008 at 09:35 PM. |

don't want a plasma because i don't know what type of room its going in and I dont want glare, Sammy is the best LCD, and gets me Plasma Like Colors.
What else would you recommend for an LCD? I thought Sammy was the Best. Last edited by caliblue15; 05-31-2008 at 03:29 AM. |

Sammy is the best, as far as i can tell. Some of the Sony's look pretty good, but the new Sammy's are really impressive. I'm almost tempted to buy one over the new panny plasmas. Almost.

get the Panasonic TC-37LZ800.
seriously. no seriously. black levels with the best of the best. colors with the best of the best. and 120hz that is waaaaaaay better than any other implementation I've seen. All of the benefits of 120hz, without the drawbacks. My panasonic delivers smooth, crips video that has never looked unnatural or like a camcorder playback. I've also never noticed any visual artifacts, smearing, or stuttering. If you must have something bigger, then you should seriously consider some of Philips' higher end models. when i get my scanner working i'll show you the material i received from Toshiba about Game Mode... and *spoiler alert* its not worth the extra money just to get a TV with Game Mode... if you're worried about something for gaming look at 2 things
1) 120Hz 2) A "native" aspect mode or the like, prevents overscan, gives you the full picture (toshiba's upcoming slogan is SEE IT ALL, LIVE LONGER) |

I'm not a big Toshiba fan.
If I am gaming shouldn't I go with 5ms, over a 120HZ, because the 120HZ is digitally processed to find the missing frame (most games are not even 60fps). Therefore the faster response time would limit the blur, without over compensating, and keeping Blu-ray's how they should look? Am I wrong? |

the thing about the TV I would recommend out of the ones you asked about (i would go with the 650 Touch of Color 40" with 120Hz) is that it has different levels for the 120Hz setting, you would likely turn it off or to Low when watching a Blu, and turn it to medium or high for watching sports, and likely Low again for gaming
the thing about advertised response time that I've found is it seems to mean about as much as contrast ratio... there are multiple ways to measure it and therefore it's not always an accurate measure of the panel's actual speed of response but if you have the option, I would check out the ToC and the different settings for the 120Hz, and then check out the 5ms TVs, you might be surprised. |

Best Buy hasnt received those yet. I only get like $600 off normal prices.
Edit: Only certain stores have them, I could order one in, a 40" would probably be $1500 or so. Edit2: the LED LCD's have a 8ms Response time, not good at all.. but it does have the LED motionplus. Last edited by caliblue15; 06-03-2008 at 09:01 PM. |
