Default Htib Speakers Using An A/v Reciver

Hello I Have A Sony Home Theatre Box Dvd Package But As It Doesnt Have An Optical Input I Cant Watch My Ps3 Blu-ray Films In 5.1 Only Stereo ( My Dvd Player Is Connected To My Tv Via Twin Phono) My Question Is This. Is It Possible To Replace The Dvd Player And Swap With An Av Reciever And Plug The Speakers Directly Into This Thus Having 5.1 When Watching Blu-ray Via My Ps3 ?

check the Ohms..... but I wouldn't worry about damaging the speakers.... I'd start to save some cash to slowly upgrade.... Crakinz listed a very reasonably priced polk set-up.
