Default Word War Z By Marc Forster

Hey,

Talk about a World War 3, except this time its against Zombies.

The Idea I have to admit is a kick ass.

Quote:
Marc Forster, director of the opinion-dividing Quantum Of Solace, has signed on to helm the adaptation of Max Brooks’ critically acclaimed novel World War Z.

The book, told from the viewpoint of a UN researcher, chronicles the stories of survivors of a zombie epidemic that spans the globe and cripples every country. The entire novel is documented in flashback in a disjointed structure that sets each chapter in a new arena with new characters.

It sounds like it couldn’t possibly work, but fortunately screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski is on the case, and after he is inevitably nominated for an Oscar for the Clint Eastwood-directed The Changeling, excitement for this project will begin to build.

“The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the ’70s like All The President’s Men,” says Forster. Sounds like he already has a good idea for the film.

Production is being overseen by Brad Pitt’s Plan B studio, although no word about the actor’s involvement has been confirmed or denied.

Everything sounds promising. Just one piece of advice for Mr Forster - perhaps the editing could be less frenetic this time?

This needs to be told in flashback. The book is great. It would be nice too if they used some of the cast from the Audio Book.

There was some concept art released for this of the Battle of Yonkers, an important part of the war.

Now an important thing, and I hope they keep it from the book, is that these are Romero type traditional zombies. They don't run!

Not in that way. The book is structured as a memoir of sorts. The researcher goes around to different people who were involved with pivotal points in the war and what lead to it's beginning. Each person then tells their individual story. I want the movie that way, with the interviewer going around gathering stories then they flashback to the events being told.

This is a pretty cool idea for 'World War Z' to be told, just like the book.

lets hope they stay true to the story.

You should really read it, there's plenty of time to finish it as I don't think they have even started shooting this yet.

It's a quick read and very engrossing. Real page turner and the situations the characters go through really move you.

It's funny too because he references his own book in it, The Zombie Survival Guide.

Borders actually had this on a buy one get one 50% off sale recently. I picked up V For Vendetta (the graphic novel) and this. Not a bad deal really.

By far I can not describe how great this book is. So far read it up to page 57 and all I can say I am hooked on this (definitely recommend it to others who haven't read it.) The best part about this book is that how your imaginations comes into play, with every interview (in the story) it is as if I am making my own visual scene.

Thanks for the recommendations.

It turned out my little bro had the book. (found out after buying it)

Brad Pitt is supposedly going to be in it. No character has been given. It's listed on his imdb page.

It gets better and better. Especially when the tide of the war changes.

There are somethings mentioned in the story that I wish he could have expanded on but I could understand since he focused on such a specific threat. It's amazing how he was able to capture the feel of the world.

I think Brad Pitt is only attached as a producer on this. I kind of want a film full of unknowns.

Quote:
Marc Forster‘s film of World War Z appears to be on the absolute tip of the cusp of the verge of crossing the line and entering production. Right as we speak, the film’s cinematographer is busy prepping at one of London’s big film studios.

The DP in question is Robert Richardson, who recently wrapped Martin Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret down at Shepperton. This time he will be working out of another one of our big production bases, over at Elstree. Amongst Richardson’s other credits are Kill Bill, Natural Born Killers and Eight Men Out. He’s commonly referred to as a “stylist” and I can certainly see why.

I knew Richardson was going to shoot the picture because his agency put it on his CV, but I was certainly a little surprised to learn just now that he’s already got his light meter out.

It’s nice to see work pressing ahead like this when, just a few weeks ago, the project seemed to be at real risk of collapse. We’d personally confirmed since then that the film was going to go into production this year, but if Richardson’s business is anything to judge by, they’re into bona fide pre-production and cameras could roll as soon as next month, perhaps even later this month.

World War Z, if you do not know, will be based upon the book by Max Brooks. It’s the one subtitled “An Oral History Of The Zombie War” and if you have even a fleeting interest in perambulatory cadavers, especially those with carnivorous predilections, you owe it to yourself to nab a copy.
Link.
