its def better than the ps2 as far as graphics are concerned with or without the hdtv.
There arent an incredible amount of games right now, so you might as well either wait for March, or wait until you have a HD TV. prices on TV's and possibly the PS3 may be cheaper anyway. The same thing apply to the 360. Its tougher to enjoy the HD games when you dont see them that way. |

Don't bother with any of it until you have an HDTV.

Don't have a HDProjector yet, but stopped buying DVD's (600+ today) and started BD-collection.
Buying new dvd's now and then replacing them when the HDProjector hangs on my ceiling... better get my collection started. Now I can spend the money. When I buy a new projector, my wife will tell me to keep low for a while. ![]() Than I have a nice FullHD projector, but no BD's.... get the picture? |

I still say it isn't the case.
PS3 is still cheaper than majority of HDTVs sold in the market regardless of location (unless you get those China-branded or Taiwan ones like Syntax/Olevia by Kolin). But to the cut the story short (and I'll state this in all caps letters for the one asking).... YOU DO NOT NEED AN HDTV IN ORDER TO USE THE PS3. What phranctoast said is true in that Least Common Denominator is in effect. So more often than not, you can plug you PS3 to an old CRT and use composite and you will still get better graphics than on the PS2 (when you play PS1/PS2 and PS3 games). At minimum, the game quality would be at par with the PS2 BUT NOT WORSE than it (which some XBOX zealots are proposing). Like how XBOX 360 can display Xbox1 games (like Halo 1 & 2 and Forza 1) better than the original console (even when composite is used). Xbox lemmings say that the playing legacy games on the PS3 looks like s**t that is WORSE than playing it on a PS2.....BUT after the version 1.50 upgrade patch was released, this immediately became a non-issue. So let's repeat the keypoints: -The Sony PS3 will NOT have any problems with playing legacy games (PS1/PS2) regardless of what connection you use (composite, S-Video, component, HDMI,etc.) and also regardless of what TV you have (SDTV,EDTV or HDTV) -PS3 games WILL not have problems running on old-school TVs that are 480-only (so if you use cheap-@$$ CRT from the 80s and use the only available composite inputs, your PS1/PS2/PS3 games will NOT look s**tty).....well maybe except for Resistance but if they (Sony) releases a patch for it, this becomes non-issue as well. And they're you have it, even if you want to get a PS3 but are poor for getting more expensive things (at the moment) and only have cheap-**** CRT in your house, then YOU ARE NOT DOOMED and you are still fine ![]() This is not the XBOX 360 wherein you play Oblivion on a CRT and the floor starts to disappear from the screen ![]() - |
