Granted, Itagaki's apparent lack of interest in putting any titles on Sony's Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable has made itself extremely obvious but what are the chances of ever seeing something from this outspoken game genius come out on a Sony platform?

What I'm hoping now that drunk pervert, Itagkai is gone is a colabration between Namco and Tecmo to create a Tekken vs DOA game with Tekken's fighting engine. Also, I want a port of Ninja Gaiden 2 for the PS3. now that will make my day.

The chances of an Itagaki game on a Sony platfrom? Next to nil, for one he does not like Sony or Playstation at all. Secondly I am 90% positive he already has a new job within M$ as we speak. Not that I care much because Itagaki is not that great of a developer, remember he is the face of Team Ninja it's his employees who have all the talent, I won't downplay his creative vision but without the technical people to creat that vision he has nothing. DOA4 was not very good, compaired to DOA Ultimate which was much more balanced. The DOA extreme series is a total joke, though I do like Ninja Gaiden (though I hear the new one is a bit of a mess). What I can say is that hopefully with the M$ lapdog gone from Team Ninja hopefully Sony can step in a secure some ports/exclusives from what is a great team of people.
Oh an PSX005, I would not be so quick to defend or support Namco(as big of a Tekken and SoulCalibur fan as I am), as I am pretty sure they don't like Sony either or have been paid off big time by M$. If you notice everysingle one of their big games has been a 360 exclusive, also SC4 has been said too run poorly on PS3, on top of the fact that Tekken 6 has not even been mentioned for home conversion which I bet either ends up multi-plat or 360 exclusive. From where I sit Namco jumped ship a long time ago. Last edited by Blu Blur; 06-05-2008 at 02:02 PM. |

I guarentee you that we will now see a Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 along with Dead or Alive 5 being PS3 and 360. Itagaki's been on the microsoft payroll for years, and now that he is gone, Tecmo can get to actually making some real money on the sony platforms. Ninja Gaiden PSP? Believe.

Team Ninja did make a fine PS3 game in Ninja Gaiden Sigma and they said they wanted to make more. M$ probly broke into a cold sweat and busted out the bribes upon hearing it. My understanding, though I lack citations at the moment, is that M$ paid most of the dev cost of NG2. That being said, I wouldn't call Sigma 2 impossible, but it's somewhat unlikely, and certainly won't be happening for atleast a year or 3.
For Namco; yes, they've been paid off a bit too, but it won't last. We're already seeing Eternal Sonata, and there's murmurs of more. They also specifically said they're making 6 PS3 games this year but only 3 X360 titles. And: Tekken 6 is for arcade and PS3. 360 may technically have more userbase at the moment, but it's unbalanced (all in America, none in Japan), and thus cannot last. |

I've never been really sure why Itagaki ever got as much attention as he did. I love Ninja Gaiden (in all its forms, from the original Xbow release to Sigma) well enough as a game, but from all reports NG2 suffers from the exact same flaws as the original, which have not been fixed now for the better part of a decade - and especially as franchises like God of War and Devil May Cry have paved the way for showing how to fix many of the issues without making compromises.

If Microsoft is willing to take on Itagakisan, they can have him. In the long run, he's more trouble than he's worth. He'd fit in worse with Microsoft than he did at Tecmo. |

Tekken is king of fighting games. Tekken 4 sucked, though.

Well, the Dead or Alive franchise claim to fame lies more in the size of its D-cups than in the actual gameplay.
![]() At least with Ninja Gaiden there's some decent combat to go with it, though I still can't believe they haven't figured out how to fix that notoriously flaky camera. |
