Default Cloverfield, Rambo, Untraceable Not Working...

Hello,
I have a Samsung BDP-1000. I have started to notice a trend. The most recent Blu-Ray purchases will not play despite my best efforts. I use the most recent firmware upgrades available from Samsung and still no go. Now I know the movies work because they play in my laptop Blu-ray player but no dice on the home movie front. Are these movies and future ones coming out in a new format that is just too much for this player to handle or am I looking at a having to get a new player? ...and just to back fill a bit. When I put in the movie it acts like its loading, then i get the loading splash screen for the movie, and thats it. It seems to lock up there. I wait for about ten minutes just for the hell of it and nothing. The player shows zeros for the counter display like its just hung up. If anyone has any helpful input on this, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Sell the 1000 and get the 1500... seriously. I've had the 1200 and tossed it quickly for a 1400, heard way too much about the 1000 to even think about it, have a fantastic 1400 that plays everything and a 1500 that hasn't had a FW update that plays everything.

Get the 1500 and never look back.

I have the same player. Rambo and Untraceable will play on mine. Rambo takes forever to load, you have to fart around with it a lot though. The player will eject it a few times and then it will play fine. I don't have Cloverfield so I can't tell you about that one, but from all I've been reading, it won't play on this machine.

I did call Samsung over a month ago inquiring about the 1.6 update and if it were ever going to be released. I still can't get Independence Day to load and was hoping 1.6 would address that issue. I was told that 1.6 would be out by the end of the week. That was over a month ago and mind you still no update. On their part, they didn't specify which week or even what year it would be released, so guess I can't call them out on that. I'm just waiting on the Panasonic 50 or the new Sony to be released and I'll probably get rid of the Samsung. Their inconsistent customer support and my previous Samsung experiences with other equipment has left too bitter of a taste in my mouth to even consider purchasing anything else they offer.

If you don't have the 1.5 update on your machine, you may want to download that and install it. It may help on some of your discs that you can't play.

Just get a PS3. No loading times, very reliable. There's really no reason to not buy a PS3 if you're spending sub-$500 on a BR player. They are by far the best player in that price range.

If only the PS3 had 5.1 or 7.1 analog, but it doesn't.

It's always funny to me when people say "the best" when the best is always going to be relative to your needs. I think Herpes is the best, if I want an STD and enjoy them. Read up, check around and experience things for yourself and find out what "the best" is according to you. You line 10 people up and ask them what the best is and you're going to have 10 different answers.

It's like herding cats around here.

Rambo took me 4 times or more to get it to play. First few times the image was ghosted...like a "non-degaussed monitor". Changing res to 720p got the image right but colors were saturated in green. I had to eject and reinsert and voila.

Independance Day works fine but needed firmware 1.5 to get title credits to flow well...otherwise they would stutter and deform in "digital squares". Same with "The Day After Tomorrow" and "AVP: Requiem"

If you check the thread, you'll see that the 1500 is getting a way better response than any other Samsung Players before it. They changed the chipset in that one, so it's probably because the chipset they used in the 1000,1200,1400 was from the same company.. and sucked
