Default Entertainment Center Set-Up Question

Man this is racking my brain but I was hoping somebody out there had a genius solution. I have limited space to put in a new LCD - prob a 40 inch sony but as you can see by the photo its not going to work. I can put in up to a 42 inch tv as long as its no longer than 42 inches but its going to cover up the speakers. I can place it on the highest shelf where the center channel is but that is going to look goofy. Any suggestions?

if your goinig to use that shelf, you need to make sure its goinig to hold the weight of whatever you put there. also, its hard to tell but i suggest use a power surge/strip at least.

dont know where you live, but here in cali, earthquakes are a bother and things need to be secure. not sure how flat panels are since i dont have one yet.

A 37 would work but I'm looking to get a 1080p. Hard to find 1080p in a 37 inch.

personally I would have done this a different way, shop for a TV and then find a stand to fit

Two options:

1. Can you angle the current stand in the corner to make it work for you?
2. Why not ditch you current stand or buy a flat panel and mount it from the wall (left side) and move the center speaker down to the shelf the TV is supposed to sit on?

Unfortunately this is a small studio apt in Hollywood and this corner is the only option. I had the stand already with a regular NTSC television. I'm in the middle of remodeling and I'm buying all new furniture and I have tried to make other set ups work but they just won't due to a fixed heater in the back of the room. I can't mount it on the wall anywhere because its a rented apt. I would move but current one bedroom apts in L.A. are $2,000 a month and I don't want to waste money away like that. The stand is also worth $3,000 and is from Italy so I don't really want to ditch it for a best buy POS. Can't part with the speakers either. Maybe I'll get some of those big screen gaming goggles.
