very limited 80 gig ps3 being released in USA - Blu-ray Forum

Some may not know but some may, but the 80 gig PS3 is coming back for a very very limited time. so limited that only 150 thousand are being made for the USA. I found this out a couple of days ago and just wanted to let you guys know if you want one to pick it up on the 12th of june before they are gone. Just to break it down for every one, that is about maybe 2 or 3 per Gamestop. This bundle will include the 80 gig PS3 (which plays PS2 and PS1 games) Metal Gear Solid 4 a duel shock 3 controller, and access to MGS online and the game PAIN. Guys this is huge!!! once your store runs out, THATS ALL, NO MORE. so make sure you get one!!!

i don't think they were planing on keeping it around i was expecting a limited amount like the PSP daxter version, but not 2 or 3 per store

Maybe Sony have plan for a slim model later down the line?
Or perhaps a 120GB model with either FULL or almost full backward capability.

hey there blu gen!!!! i bet they have one planed down the line, like the PSONEand the sllim PS2 and the slim PSP. but I don't see that happening till later. I'm so glad im picking mine up on June 11th on midnight

Sounds good. Maybe the 150,000 limit was for the LE 40gb Bundle. Even if the MGS 80gb bundle is limited, they need to have them well stocked or have another sku (80gb or higher maybe) availible to take its place.

The way I see it, there will always be two model of PS3 in the US.

One with BC (somewhat) and one without.

sup. also the other thing I am thinking is what if the 80 gig PS3 MGS4 is limited to 150 thousand, and once those are exsaughested then they will come out with a standard 80 gig ps3 with not extras

they did with the halo 3 $h#$ box 360 that didn't even come with the game, and those never sold. EVER!!!! anyone remember that? just like the Legandary HALO 3 game that wont sell!!! still to this day.

I also want to know if this PS3 will have the 65nm cell like the 40GB, or will it have the same 90nm cell as the previous 80GB, 60GB, and 20GB? I've been looking for info on this, and I've seen no info either way.

The SE Halo 360 sold, although rather slowly, at my store. It almost angered me that people payed that much for just a special paint job.
