Default How will Heroes look on BD?

I'm wondering if we'll get reference quality picture with Heroes on BD. I don't remember if it has added grain ala 24 or it looks clean, assuming the series were shot on Hi-Def video and not 35 mm.

Depends on what you mean by reference? For instance, some films considered "reference quality" have lots of film grain in it.

As for "Heroes" on BD, I had it on HD DVD and grain (or noise if it was shot digitally) is present. I don't know if I'd consider it reference quality or not, but it looks better than my local NBC affiliate's HD broadcasts, so I was very pleased with it... and would certainly recommend it over the DVD versions.

It should look good, not amazing. The first season was a good high-def presentation, but not demo material by any means. Unfortunately the show wasn't set on a tropical island like Lost.

Or a prison like "Prison Break"...
Or the '60s like "Mad Men"...

It does however look better than if it was set in Smallville, Kansas or Metropolis like "Smallville"!

LOL that it does haha. Prison Break looks fantastic, I wish season two was coming with season three though.

Heroes look good, Lost as it fair share of grainy scene do to lightning.

Hopefully the BD encode won't have banding and compression like the first few episode on HD DVD..

At least it will be a new BD specific video encode. I thought Heroes looks decent on broadcast HD.

I can't wait to own both seasons of Heroes on Blu-ray just to see these two lovely beauties in full 1080p:

Enough said.

I've seen all three seasons on TV... and I'm not in any hurry for S3, so I'm not in any hurry, but I can understand why it would be disappointing for those who haven't seen S2, or those who have, but will be buying S3.

"Heroes" does look decent on broadcast TV... and I found the HD DVD set to be superior to the broadcast version... just not as much as the other three series mentioned.

However, where have you heard that "Heroes" will be getting a new BD specific encode? Or are you talking about S2?

Yeah, I'm REALLY excited for HEROES on Blu-Ray. I'm even going to pawn my original Blu-Ray player to get a stand-alone Sony BD Player just so that I can access the PiP commentary tracks. I was planning on doing it anyways, but this is just a perfect excuse.

Even with the standard DVD, I was blown away with how incredible the look of the show is. I really think this is one of the most visually dynamic series on TV now. Shot in HD, the fx are pretty much seamless, the compositions of some shots just take your breath away (especially overhead shots of characters on ledges and the deep space that really add dimension), the color pallet is fairly wide, and the production value really makes you think they've gone all around the world.

With shows like this, PUSHING DAISIES and FIREFLY, where they really stretch the budget to make it look like they're shooting a theatrical feature film, getting the regular DVD's of them just seem pointless.

I originally watched one season 1 episode at home, then saw it on the same TV at Best Buy, and I could literally SEE more things that I didn't notice on SD. It was the episode where Hiro had learned how to stop time, and they were in Vegas. The particular scene was when he froze time at the table, and someone was blowing smoke rings when he did it. I didn't even SEE the smoke rings in SD, but the HD version they popped out. So, I would imagine that the Blu-ray will look at least as good, if not better. I wish they'd do something about how short Season 2, is, I don't want to pay so much for half of a season.... Ooh, and the new TV trailers? Showed a hint of "Claire-bear" as a brunette, and getting ready to shoot Peter, saying "I always loved you" with a lot of regret in her voice.

The same as on HD-DVD. Often sharpened with haloes.
