You said you were going to boot-camp, so "Full Metal Jacket" is a must-own if you don't have it.....
2001, Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, Bladerunner, Cars or Ratatoulli if you like that type of deal, Patton, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood..... many many more. |

Must own depends upon the content of the movie and whether it suits you. Trust me when I say you may be disppointed shopping when driven strictly by quality of the BD.

Right now I'm reserves.
I won't be leaving until late September, so I may wait until 10/1 and get the job I want for active. All the spots are currently full. I have FMJ. I got it with the 5 free promotion for buying my PS3. I also have: The DI, Boys In Company C on SD. The DI is pretty good. I thought Boys In Company C seemed like a joke. I have a huge list on Amazon. I'm trying to move all my SD to BD. I feel like I HAVE to have the ones I already own on BD. I'll probably just hold off on those and purchase them when I get the movies I don't yet have. Planet Earth is one I'm getting for sure. I liked it when I saw it on Discovery and heard great things about the PQ. |

I agree with many of the choices posted for "Must Own" and have a few more suggestions:
1. Dirty Harry (all 5, but at least the 1st one titled Dirty Harry) 2. Appleseed Ex Machina 3. Apocalypto (super good PQ, and I actually liked the story) 4. Blade Runner 5. The Fifth Element (remastered) 6. Live Free or Die Hard 7. Shooter 8. Rambo 9. Spider-Man 2 All of these are movies I have watched many times over. They look and sound good are some of the big reasons I am glad I went Blu over a year ago. |

There are plenty of great looking/sounding BD's, but a lot of current releases, in my opinion, are popcorn/watch-once movies, and aren't necessarily must owns. That being said, some I recommend that are certainly worth owning (and watching many times over):
--Planet Earth (just...wow) --Casino Royale (has the hottest accountant I've ever seen, and 007 movies never get old, at least to me) --Blade Runner (great picture/sound, but more importantly, great movie) I have both of the Pixar movies (Cars, Ratatouille), and they certainly look amazing, but the movies themselves pale in comparison to Pixar's earlier ones. I'd recommend picking up Cars (maybe), or, if possible, hold out for Finding Nemo (a much better movie, I think). Other than that, if you like a particular movie, go for it, but I think there are far more "must sees" than "must owns". |
