Hi, new to the board, first time poster, looking forward to the expertise of the blu ray affionados on the board. Anyway...i bought the S300 back in February and have had no problem playing all types of discs. All of a sudden all of my DVD-R and DVD+R discs stopped working. It just says that it cannot play this disc whenever I put one in. All Blu Ray discs and standard DVD discs that I own still work fine...just the plus and minus Rs won't play. Any thought, comments, suggestions? All will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes. I meant to put that in the original thread. I did update this AM after the problems started but the problem persists after the update.

Did you try doing a hard reset, by unplugging the unit from the wall for a few minutes?

Yeah...actually i had dvd copies of Lost and I watched the first disk earlier in the night and it worked fine but when I popped in the second disc the problem started. I put the first disc back in and the same problem came up tried several other discs, same thing. This was all before I did the update. I did the update this morning to see if it would fix the problem but no dice.

Remember, these things are like very customized computers. Anything electronic with a memory may occasionally need a "cold boot".
A good static jolt can muck up the memory. Since these things go into standby, and are never truly off, the jolted electronics which remain live could be interfering with the whole player. |
