Writer/Creator Hurwitz said he refused to start writing the script until he was actually ready to do the movie. Well, he's started writing, and both he and Ron Howard have confirmed they are now ready to do the movie. Great news!!

UPDATE E!Online has confirmed Michael Cera IS on board

It also appears they finally locked in the final holdout in the cast. E! Online is reporting that Michael Cera will finally be joining the Arrested Development film.

The movie may go into production by the end of the year, with series creator Mitch Hurwitz currently writing the script and series executive producer Ron Howard in line to direct the feature.

"It's looking very much like we're going to make [the movie], but we've now been asked to stop offering any details. It's cloaked in a little mystery, but it's looking good."

I loved the TV show, (crazy to cancel?!?!

) but I'm curious to see if a movie could have legs and make it. I suppose it wouldn't matter, diehards will see it either way.

Worst case scenario, the movie isn't good, missing characters, and tarnishes the overwhelming positive reputation of the show (in a Spiderman 3 type of way?).

Best case scenario, the movie is hilarious with full cast and... I guess that's it.

Insightful analysis, that's why they pay me the big bucks.

I'm looking forward to this. And I'm sure it helps that some of the cast has gone on and become bigger names since the show ended. If they keep the budget modest, I'm sure it can be profitable.

Awesome! This is my favorite sitcom, maybe even my favorite show, of all time. I will definitely be seeing this when it is released in theatres and will be buying the inevitable Blu.
