Default DVD, BD and TV

Not sure where to put this. It seemed a little too related to movies to put it in the miscellaneous section (compared to the stuff posted in there) but doesn't completely fit in any other section.

That being said, I was wondering how people store their BDs along with their DVDs (assuming you have some of each).

I'm a stickler for keeping things organized, so I would always have all my DVDs put on shelves in alphabetical order, but separated TV shows, instructional DVDs and music/concert DVDs from the movies.

Since getting BDs, I wasn't sure where to put them, so I threw them in with the regular movies (except for the concert ones, with went with the concert DVDs).

Anyhow, I'm just wondering what other people do. Do you keep your BDs separate from your DVDs, or do you combine them all together?

At the moment I have them in order of rating, usually I keep the movies with the same actor close together, for example I have Identity and 1408 nextdoor to eachother.

I never really got into the DVD stage purchasing wise, I rented tons of them though. I had lots of VHS when I was a kid that got bought for me. When DVD started to get popular I was in young and going to school and the only DVDs I actually owned were bought for the family and I would watch them occasionally.

I only have a handful of DVDs. I have the Alien Quadrilogy, and a few comedies.

Now that I'm 21 and can afford to buy things for myself I'm purchasing plenty of movies that I've always wanted to own.

But back on topic. I have a small stack of DVD's just piled up in no particular order, and then for my blus I have 2 rows alphabetically for the most part. I still group movies like Live Free or Die Hard right behind Die Hard with a Vengence just so the whole series is grouped together.

My Blus are just stacked because I don't have that many, but my DVDs I have organized, first by the chronological order in which they are supposed to have taken place, then within those groups they are grouped by actors if there are repeats, and then for movies that aren't historical in any sense, (comedies, some drama, whatever), I have organized by genre and then in order from when they were made.

...Not sure why I do it this way... Also, TV shows, (Arrested Development, The Office, Deadwood, Freaks and Geeks, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), are in their own group but in no particular order.

Interesting method. Never heard of this before, but what would you do for a movie like The Fountain? When was LotR? Aside from those difficulties, I like the idea.

The Great Blu's are across the room from their DVD counter parts ! Never, will they be on the same shelf, or for a matter of fact be in the same room, as their DVD counter parts ! The NEW AGE is HERE let bygones be bygones !

I have three groups at the moment: movie DVDs, TV DVDs, and BDs. Once I get a couple more TV BDs I'll split up my BD collection as well. Within each group, I sort the titles alphabetically.

Well like I said, I have all of my "historical" movies placed in chronological order according to when they were alleged to have taken place, not when they were made. So for the Lord of the Rings, since it is so large in scope and depth as to be presented as a kind of history, I place those at the very beginning of the section since they "took place" far before Gladiator for instance.

The Fountain, if I owned it, I would probably place with my other dramas and put it in its appropriate place according to when it came out in theaters.

All of my Blu's and the few HD-DVD's I have are stored in a different bookshelf than my DVD's (because I ran out of room in that bookshelf). All of my video media is stored by genre (comedy, Disney, sci-fi, super-hero, war, etc.). Well, at least until the wife or kids put things away in the wrong spot! My 500+ CD's, though, are alphabetized. Go figure...

My Blus get top shelf billing in alphabetical order. My DVDs are on all the other racks in alphabetical order.

My Blu-rays are in a separate rack from my DVDs, and share it with my video games (to save space). Right now they are arranged in "watched" and "un-watched", and also "box sets" cause they take up more room.
But once I get some more, and a better shelf system, I plan to reorganize it in alphabetical order.

My DVDs are totally out of order and just shoved in a book shelf.. i never organized them after I moved in and since I will move again in less than a year, I will leave them as they are and arrange them better in my new place.

Stored alphabetically but kept separate from DVDs. BDs are now 2 full shelves in my rack and growing!
