Hi all,
Just a question, I know that the PS3 is supposedly not region locked for games, but does anyone think you could play a game imported from the U.K. on a U.S. PS3? I ask because I would have to wonder about the different standards (i.e. NTSC/PAL) does anyone know whether the PS3 is capable of converting PAL>NTSC for games? Thanks. |

This would only be an issue when playing PS1 and PS2 games since they are PAL or NTSC. All PS3 games are either 720P or 1080P HDTV. The HDTV standard being used should allow games to be played on any PS3 as long as the games are region free. All PS3 launch titles are region free but in the future they could make some PS3 games with region coding to prevent someone from importing a game from Japan or Europe and playing it on a US PS3. The PS3 in the US will output a HDTV movie or game in 720P or 1080P. And it will convert HDTV games to NTSC 480I for older NTSC TV's. Same thing in Europe the HDTV signal can be down converted to PAL on Europe PS3machines.
