New PSP owner - Blu-ray Forum

I just bought a PSP (silver with Daxter game) and have never played on before. I notice when playing a game a loud noise (almost like white noise on a TV) for a second or so sporadically while playing disc games. Is this normal?

It doesn't get louder with the volume going up or down, so I thought it may be the UMD drive... is it really just that noisy?

Yes, the slim can get noisy when downloading from the UMD. The original PSP is quite the opposite. It really doesn't bother me.

Yeah it didn't really bother me, especially because it's only about 1 second of noise when it is searching... but seeing as it is a new unit I wanted to make sure it was "normal".

I've actually noticed this a lot too with my PSP. Especially when I play Crisis Core.

I'm starting to get used to it, but I really don't feel like its a minor inconvience and I am disappointed they allowed it to go through Quality Control.
