Hey Gang...literally a HUGE noob to gaming, I haven't owned a system since Nintendo 64. Don't play much, pretty much watch blus, but I am going to have to purchase the star wars force unleased game (I think it is out in September). How should I preorder it so that I know I can get it on release day? Is going into a game stop the best way?

A lot of people pre-order - but I wouldn't bother. Look at all the folks who pre-ordered MGS4 - release day came and many were left still waiting for their game to come in the mail - Walmart had plenty.
As for gamestop, etc. - unless there is some cool incentive, a Walmart or Target are just fine. Unfortunately, no one really has sales on these things, they are all $60 - or on sale for $59.93! |

The one that really sticks in my mind is when the WoW expansion came out. With the number of people who play that game I figured I had to pre-order and did. Day of release I walked into BB and there was a table full of them. Last time I have ever pre-ordered. If a game as big as WoW can put out an expansion and there will be plenty of copies on release day then most anybody can. |

If you are going to pre-order wait and see if any stores are offering pre-order bonuses. If you are going to wait until release compare different stores bonues (gift card, free strategy guides etc.)

Don't pre-order. There's no need to and you play into the retailers hands.
Wait until the week before to see who's giving away something with the game or offering the best deal. Then just get it there. Big retailers will not sell out of big game's the first day. I'll never pre-order a game again. |

Now, I am seeing a big problem. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a game store to buy a game on release day only to be told that they only ordered enough to cover their pre-orders. That just ticks me off. WTH wouldn't you have some, even only a couple, to put on the shelf? It really cheeses me off, they're not helping themselves. I just get mad and go spend my money someplace that actually wants my business. |
