I am a huge Wes Anderson fan and would love to add his movies to my collection. Does anyone have any information regarding the possibility of his movies being released on Blue-ray?

They will eventually like all movies. But don't hold your breath as there's not even a whisper of release news/rumors for any of his movies.

I believe that all of Anderson's movies are Criterion titles

Well Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums & Life Aquatic are but that doesn't really represent the possibility of the future releases. Especially with his latest movie, The Darjeeling Limited being released by the studio.

P.S. Bottle Rocket is also not a Criterion release. Rushmore has a separate un-Criterion release as well.

This is the first time I haven't bought a Wes Anderson DVD on its release date. If Fox gets it out on Blu, I'm there.

Does Criterion request permission to release the dvd from the studio? are the movies released by both the studio and Criterion?

Actually I'm really not sure how they get the rights to release titles. Most of their titles are only available from them. Although sometimes there are previous releases from the studios available. Like Rushmore for instance.

With Criterion in the game, I think the operative answer is that we'll probably see them on Blu whether we want them or NOT.

(I, OTOH, will agree with the critic who complained that "Rushmore" felt like a comedy "where every character had been resurrected at an evil Pet Sematary"... )
