USA Lisa (1990) - September 22, 2015

The thriller/horror film Lisa (1990) will be released on September 22nd, courtesy of Kino.

Quote:
Single mom Katherine (Cheryl Ladd) forbids her 14-year-old daughter, Lisa (Staci Keanan), from dating. Frustrated, Lisa and her equally lonely friend Wendy (Tanya Fenmore) take to secretly following attractive men, sneakily learning their numbers and prank calling them. It's all in fun until Lisa phones the handsome Richard (D.W. Moffett), who mistakes her for a grown woman and forges an emotional connection with her. But Lisa doesn't know that Richard is a stalker himself, and he's dangerous.
Couldn't find a trailer for it, so here's Siskel and Ebert's review:

based on the S&E review above, sounds like "Lisa" is a kinky teenage girl who loves taking pics and fantasizing about men, until she gets interested in the wrong one. My Two Dads this isn't.

I watched it on NetFlix a few years ago and found it pretty dull. But as a cheesy '90s thriller enthusiast, I'll probably buy it regardless.

Lifetime used to air this all the time in the early nineties & I loved it then. I'll pick it up.

Seems like something I would enjoy, though that PG-13 rating definitely raises a red flag.

Was pretty confident this one was coming after MisterLime responded to my post about MGM HD airings. Definite purchase. I like this one way more than Raw Meat. With this coming, the only Sherman title left that I'd love to see on Blu is Mysterious Two.

As a huge Step By Step and Staci Keanan fan, I'm surprised I don't remember this one.

I disagree with the S&E review. I saw this once when I was younger, and it has stayed with me all these years. The plot is a very realistic story that could easily happen to anyone. I don't remember this one have a terribly large budget, or being heavily promoted....in fact, for some reason, my memory of it was more like a TV-made movie of the week, but I remember renting it from a video store and still really loving it. I consider it a real sleeper hit that needs to be re-discovered. I just ordered it.

I remember seeing this in the theater when it first came out. It was only it the theaters for like two weeks, saw it as a double feature with childs play 2 LOL. I am shocked that this is getting a Blu Ray release as I don't think it even made it to dvd. I really thought this movie was long forgotten and dead

Just saw the price for this..LOL The price will have to drop drastically for me to purchase this. The Max that I would pay for this is $15 and that is pushing it. There is NO way I'm paying $29.99 sorry Kino

They are never at that price on release day. Just like Criterion's don't sell for $39.99. Usually $17-18.

Gee thanks, slimdude.

The reason the rating is worrisome: the subject matter/plot description sounds nice 'n sleazy, but a PG-13 rating pretty much puts the kibosh on all the fun. And then that other poster mentioned it used to play on Lifetime quite a bit back in the day...

Saw this years ago, it's a good flick to watch to kill time but it's nothing spectacular.
