Hey guys, one question here.
I have TMT 5 on my laptop and whenever I play a blu ray that has a dts hd ma track on it, sometimes it's show in the little info box and sometimes it just comes up as normal DTS wtf? ![]() Also, when I play an hd audio sample, it displays true hd, but on some movies it will show only normal dd or I won't get audio at all, again wtf? ![]() Even if the tracks show up as dts hd mstr or truehd, I check the settings menu and they are all 16 bit, so I'm guessing they're downsampled. Now, here is my question. If they are downsampled, why don't all of the HD tracks just get displayed as normal dts in the info box, instead of dts hd mstr or true hd? Perhaps some discs default automatically to HD audio on your laptop whereas some may need that option selected. It is true that both DDTHD and DTSHD bump down to slightly better DTS and DD on a system not equipped with HD audio but I know there are some earlier titles where I have to actually select the HD option in the menu. So, it may just be in your audio settings or you may have to go in and select the HD option in the disc's menu. Try that and see.

It depends if you are using video card with HDMI that supports HD audio passthrough. Could you ever get HD Audio from your TMT5? Also check that you chose right audio output mode. I can't remember ir now, but TMT5 have like 5 modes. Try to change between them. |

It is a setting inside of the pc playback software, on a pc when you select the HD:MA playback it will use those, and if you speakers or sound cannot decode them, they will playback essentially electronic noise.
Dig around the settings, make sure the software supports them, and more then likely you don't have a soundcard that will output the proper audio unless you are hooking it up to a receiver. What that means, if you don't have the soundcard/receiver is you will have to use the software options built-in to downsample the MA tracks (that is what I do on my PC situation). |
