Importing Blu-ray into India

Need some help

I reside in India where we have a PAL format.I have recently bought a PS3-PAl and was looking to source some Blu rAy movies .The ones we get here are really offcolor and not collectors items.

ANyone who cud help me go abt this.i believe most of the movies avl on online shopping places like amazon are regionspecific.

For Blu-ray movies you don't need to worry about PAL/NTSC. Blu-rays are stored mostly as 1080P that will playback on any suitable High Definition display. I believe India is located in Region C, but many region free Blu-rays from Region A(mostly U.S. and Japan) and Region B(mostly Europe) will play in your PS3.

Hey Thanks mate.
by the way i wanted to pick the Spiderman Trilogy and a host of other collector series.see that in the list it is region locked so does that mean we cannot play it here.

People here are mighty confused if these movies wud play on their systems. no point shelling out the bucks and then lay yrself on blurays that wud be bricks.


also do you have any idea if the Used blu-rays are any point in buying.? they seem to be relatively cheaper than the new ones

Where exactly did you buy your PS3?

More importantly, what does the PS3 box say about your DVD and BD region? That will determine which online/retailer you can get your BDs from.

Bought it from trhe SOny Center in India.

will have to hunt for the manual and look if there is some info ..

If you read the little note accompanying the Spider-Man trilogy you'll find that both Spider-man 1 and Spider-Man 2 are region free so you can play them . Unfortunately Spider-Man 3 is still region locked though so that one could not be played by your PS3 .
