Default Atom Tickets no longer supported at Regal Cinemas

So today I was browsing movies on the Atom app on my iPhone and noticed my local Regal theater was no longer listed as being supported by Atom tickets. I can no longer purchase tickets for that theater. So I looked online and saw that all Regal theaters dropped Atom. Regal was the one that made the decision. This is very upsetting to me because I liked using Atom to buy my Fathom Events tickets in advance. It also makes it hard to see what movies Regal will be playing as app now only shows movies playing today only with them grayed out for showtimes.

So I checked to see if the two tickets I pre-purchased for two future Fathom Events (one in September and the other in November) still existed and they are still there and I can access them, so that is good for now. Also on July 1st, I got a text message regarding each of my tickets saying the QR code was updated due to a system upgrade. Then just yesterday Regal dropped them. So not sure if the QR code update was related to this or not. So now I am concerned. Will I be able to use these tickets come September and November because I don’t know if they will still have their Atom ticket scanners, but perhaps they can still scan or accept them some other way? Or will the tickets get refunded in a few days and I will have to buy the tickets again in person or some other way online?

Crazy, I wonder why? Could it be because Facebook was charging back the convenience fees (for those that utilized Facebook). I’m not sure Fandango let Facebook waive those fees.

You might need to contact Atom or Regal to find out. I would guess they may not be able to scan Atom codes months later with them discontinuing support, but who knows.

Personally, I would cancel the tickets and just get them from Fandango, or direct from Regal.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is somehow related to Regal's Unlimited service coming out. Perhaps Regal and Atom couldn't come to any agreements on waiving fees or whatever for the future service, like AMC worked out for Stubs/A-List.

Like others have said you may have to repurchase them on Fandango. Personally, I've rarely used Atom. If at all. Fandango just seemed so much easier to me.

Atom has a much faster website/app than Fandango. So I tend to use them more to check showtimes, and see what seats are available, and then order through Fandango. I'd actually use Atom more if it wasn't for getting VIP points with A-List purchases at Fandango. I pretty much stopped going to Regal since being on A-List.

I find the website/app for Fandango plenty fast. I was using A-list as well, but there are no convenient AMC's for me to go to. So no A-list. Regal is like 10 minutes from my house. So I go Regal. Which sucks cause I love the Dobly Cinema experience. Problem is no one I know cares one flip about the picture quality and sound. These people stream their movies off of Netflix or on demand it from Comcast. Neanderthals are what I have to work with. A bunch of drooling Neanderthals.

I do the same thing and for the same reason. lol

Btw, do you happen to know if there's any penalty for repeatedly buying A-List tickets through Fandango and then not showing up to get your ticket scanned? Two trips to the cinema a week is pretty much our limit (and even that can be hard) but the $5 rewards for buying 4 tickets through Fandango is part of of what's making A-List work for me and my GF. I see AMC's site just says the purchases will count against your allotment whether you show up or not so it doesn't seem like they care.

From the A-List terms and conditions on the AMC website:

"You understand that tickets reserved using A-List Membership are intended to be used, and habitual no-show activity may result, in our sole judgment, in cancellation of a Membership for cause and without a prorated refund."

I've already purchased tickets through Atom for a documentary in September at a Regal theater. Is this barcode still good? Do I need to get a refund?

update:
When I look at that showtime on Fandango the seats are still sold, so I'm guessing everything is still good right now. I'll go by the theater and try to print the tickets at the kiosk and see what happens.

Thanks for pointing that out, figured it might be an issue. I'll just have buy a ticket to a film immediately following one I actually see and get the code scanned before leaving the theater. Inconvenient but worth it so long as Fandango continues their current coupon promotion.

Mine still seem good too. Please let me know what happens at the theater when you attempt to print them.

I’d prepurchased several sets of tickets for this Regal theater, some through Fandango, some through Atom. When I slid the card I used for purchase at the kiosk, it printed all of the tickets I purchased from Fandango, but none of the Atom tickets. I slid again and it didn’t find any other reservations. There was an option to scan a barcode, so I scanned the barcode I got when I purchased my Atom tickets and it printed them out.

I’m guessing it would have found them if I used the confirmation number as well. Not sure why it didn’t find them with my card. Probably would have been fine to just use the barcode at showtime, but in this situation I’m glad I have the actual tickets now.

Hey, Fathom Events here. Your Atom Tickets are still valid for your future events. They should be issuing you an updated QR code that is supported by Regal's ticketing system. The original passes also have a "Vista" ticketing system reference number that Regal can use to give you tickets at the box office if your tickets were comp passes and not purchased under your account.

TL;DR Your seats and tickets are still reserved, and you should receive or already received replacements, no need to buy them on a different platform.

Yup, I received the updated QR codes about a week before I heard Regal split with Atom.

I used Atom Tickets probably two times and the only benefit that I saw was being able to bypass the ticket line. Considering that I head to the theaters at least 45 minutes before the movie starts, I don’t mind standing in line for 10-15 minutes and saving a dollar (Atom fee) or so. I don’t see myself ever using Atom Tickets.

Whoa, I can't imagine arriving early at the theater now that I've gotten used to reserved seating. Even 10 minutes of trailers when you arrive a little late (but not late enough lol) is too much let alone the standard 20+ minutes at AMC when you get there on time. It's that much worse when you keep getting the same damned trailers (I'm looking at you, IT: Chapter 2 and Hobbes & Shaw).

My theater averages about 8 trailers, which is way too much. I don't mind 3 or 4, at most.

As far as I can tell, my theater does not do reserve seating.
