Question Blu-ray HDCP compliance

Hi
I am having trouble with my Blu-ray, HDCP and playback.

My set up is………..
PC: HP Pavilion 061 Media Center
OS: XP Professional Media Center 5.1 SP 3
Processor: x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~3201 Mhz
2GB Ram 1TB HDD
GC: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS Adapter RAM 512.00 MB
Blueray: HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW GGC-H20L
Bundled with Cyberlink Power DVD ultra 7 + update.

Display: Onn TL2638-TP
This is connected to the PC using a DVI-D (DVI Digital) single link cable from the graphics card into a DVI/HDMI converter and then into one of two HDMI sockets on the TV.

All drivers and firmware up to date As far as I know

When I try to play Blu-ray with Cyberlink Ultra Power DVD I get this massage

“ Fail to enable HDCP Please switch to analog Output {VGA Dsub} and try again
Error code =0107 please run the BD/HD advisor tool for more information”

I ran the advisor and all was ok except
“video connection type digital with out HDCP”

I should say that my system runs great for everything other than this. The LG seams fine and plays everything other than HD and Blu-ray.
I suspect the TV obviously, but I am told that all HDMI are inherently HDCP compliant and that the converter should not make any difference?

Any ideas?

EDIT: I just got anydvd HD and the blu-ray plays but now it skips. The solutions on the other posts don't seam to help, ie beta version.

From the spec of your PC the CPU is doing the decoding AFAIK the 7600 doesn't accelerate HD video Codecs.

You will probably need a video card upgrade. The ATI HD3450 is very cheap and does the trick but it is only available as PCI-e and i don't know if your PC is PCI-e or AGP

Thanks for the advice. The thing that's bugging me at the moment is that i feel that i have only avoided the problem rather than fix it. Does Anydvd HD effect quality of the video? The sticking is only very mild and does not bother me too much but i will probably get a new card at some point.

Nope it just deals with the HDCP issue.

The skipping is probably caused by your CPU maxing out as the processing is not being done by the graphics card.

The ATI 3450 is dirt cheap at the moment http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140600 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102724 .

Cheers. I notice it has only 256DDR, will the GPU make up for the lack of ram? I only need one graphics card so it may as well be a good one. Don't have 9800GX2 money though.......
I quite like the nvidia software. Does the ATI stuff have a similar user interface?
Thanks Obiit, you are a useful fellow indeed.

what would you want a 9800GT2 for, way too cheap - one of these should suffice http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145852

As your not loading loads of textures into memory you shouldn't need a lot of RAM and both my 256meg ram cards play blu-ray fine.

ATI has it's catalyst suite which looks to do the same sort of things as the Nvidia software (comparing ATI at home with Nvidia at work)

In the end it's your choice and i can only really comment on ATI (as thats what i use for blu-ray). If Nvidia accelerates as well ATI (reading this site and google as a guide) then go with what you know

Just a thought though - if your system is AGP don't get ATI's 2000 series as they are not so hot with driver support for AGP based cards and don't get lower than an Nvidia 8600 AGP.
