Default Harmony One

I love the look of this remote, and I have had a chance to play with some of the other Harmony's, but I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with the One in specific, any positive or negative feedback??

BTW; here's what I like about it (features that are pretty much standard in high-end universal remotes)

-Programmable Activities
-Color Touch Screen
-Control Up To 15 Devices
-Backlighted Buttons
-Easy Setup

Here's what I don't like

-No Bluetooth control for PS3

I don't have one, but I do have a 670 looking to upgrade. I've read a lot over in AVS about the One versus the 880/890. It seems that, for the $$, you'd be better off with the 880/890. They all do essentially the same thing with different bells and whistles. Research these models over at AVS for yourself, and you may come to the same conclusion.

I could kick myself for not buying the Refurb 880 on Amazon 2 weeks ago. They had it for $99, and I also had a $50 rebate for buying an 880 on Amazon (not sure if it would have worked with the refurb). It's now up to $179!

I've noticed Harmony remote prices go up and down like stocks! Before you buy one, make sure you track the highs/lows so you buy at the right time.

I have both a Harmony 880 and a Harmony One. The would HIGHLY recommend the One over the 880. Yes, the LCD is a lot prettier and I love the coolness factor, but I could do without that if they lowered by a $100 or so. Functionality is pretty much the same between the two as well. There is just One thing ( no pun intended ) that makes the One so superior to the 880. The remote shape and key design.

That was really my only complaint with the 880 - it just wasn't comfortable. And the buttons are ridiculously small and recessed. It was always difficult to make sure you were pressing the right ones.

Seriously, the new button redesign makes this remote worth the extra $100.

I Want One! (pun intended) but not for $250. I will use my 676 until a really good sale on the One.
Best price online so far is $229 ... not good enough!

Yah, I hear you. I used to swear I would never pay over $100 for a remote.

Well, I managed to keep that promise (in a way). I used all my BB Reward Zone coupons that I got from buying my HDTV and BD player. The remote ended up costing me around $70 or so from my wallet. That is how I managed to justify it.

I'll keep using my 880 until it breaks and then get the One... Does anyone know with the One if you can customize the icons for the devices/activities?... I'm sick of having a Gamecube icon for my PS3 and 360...

Very limited ability. You can chose what icon you want from the dozen or so pre-loaded ones. You can't upload your own as far as I know.

Good to know. Thanks for the comparison. Personally, I like the "look" of the One better than all of the others. My biggest complaint with the 670 is the button layout and the tiny LCD screen. I originally had the 676, and really liked it until the LCD screen crapped-out. Without any problems, Harmony immediately sent me the 670 as a replacement. Not bad service.

If I can get a 880/890 for <$100, I probably will, but if I can get a One for <$140, I may go that route. We shall see what the prices do over the next couple of months....

I got a pretty high end one, and the thing is, I think it's got more features than I want to learn to use.... the damned thing is CONFUSING, and really it's only a "hey what is that" type of thing now.... I can't really say It's as functional as my old remote, but then again, I had more time to "learn" my old remote.

I think it's a fine remote, and I have one for the bedroom. Get prepared to wipe it down constantly because the piano black gloss finish is a magnet for fingerprints. While it's an improvement over the 880, I don't think it's enough to warrant a replacement if you have to. I just got one because I needed another remote, and the price was right.

I bought the remote and love it, but i do not have anything to really compare it to. I like the fetures for example the motion detector so the LCD comes on when you pick up the remote or you can import pictures for example T.V channels and use them as your favorites...

The docking station that comes with it is sturdy not like some of the other remotes that i have read about that have issues with charging.

I got the 880 with extended warranty from Best Buy. Maybe I'll luck out and it will die so I can get a One.

My only complaint with the 880, as stated above, is the button layout. It's not very comfortable to hold the bottom of the remote to press the number buttons, and it's tough to feel the individual buttons. I still love the remote, but if I was to state a complaint that would be it.

if i remember right the 880 is a replacement plan..meaning we dont service it we just replace it...its like a 2 year receipt...so IF it is..you can go into the store right now and say it keeps freezing blah blah blah and get a new remote..=)

just make sure its a replacement plan..wich i believe it is
