Default HELP! Need suggestions for a receiver in combination with PS3

Hi guys,
Wifey finally caved and gave consent to purchase a HT. We have a newborn and are working with little funds. So suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I plan on going with the Polk RM10 for speakers. Read alot of good reviews on them and they are cheap and are compact. I am clueless as to which receiver to go with... I am just wondering which receiver the majority of people here have found success with their PS3. Looking at spending $600-$700 on the receiver.

Thanks

or if you're looking at the onkyos you can get the TX-SR705 for about $520 on amazon and its great! after shipping you'd probably have about $120 from your receiver budget left too, so you have that little bit extra for speakers

well he's from canada and the 805 is about $1199 here, so maybe go with the Onkyo TX-SR606, the cheapest i could find is $568 plus tax is http://www.electronicsforless.ca/ele...HDMI_Switching, or wait til the yamaha RX-V663 is released in canada, you could order from the usa but you may have warranty issues, but if your getting right away i think the onkyo is your best bet. im going to wait until the yamaha comes to canada, unless that onkyo has a price drop.

Good advice, get the 805. I've had it for about 7 months and (apart from me trying to put the wrong firmware on it ) its been absolutely perfect.

For a Canadian.... I'd say that's "bad" advice.....

What brands, at what prices are you currently looking at? If you can listen to some different models in your price range, and narrow it down to a couple.... or few, we can give you more pro's and con's of those.... but without listening to them for yourself, it turns into a popularity contest.

good luck.

I would also stick with Onkyo, but really depends on exactly what you want. I've both a 605 and 805, while the 605 obviously doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the 805 does, if you don't have more than 2 things you will be connecting via HDMI, the 605 would give you great performance and sound, and will save you a few hundred bucks, something that, with a newborn at home, would come in very helpfull

You can get the 805 at Ecost for $538. They ship to Canada too!

Edit: Once again, Ecost lowered the price, again, of the 805 to $516. You gotta love it.
