Default I joined bluray(so should U)

I bought my PS3 3 days ago, and I have fallen head over heals for bluray.

Yerp. Ignore the blatant lies about the PS3 - it does not sound like a jet engine (almost silent), does not lock up or crash during game play or movies.

I bought a cheap Nyko HDMI cable, plugged it into my tv via HDMI without ever turning it on before. The reports of having to take an hour to install it manually, activate the HDMI port, then reboot and hook up hdmi are completely false.

Ignore the blatant lies like (I tested these three days, non stop ) you MUST HAVE the blu ray remote to make the movies "work". Complete BS the controller does playback fine. For nifty features like messing with subtitles and angles, etc, the remote would be convienent if not essential.

If you can indulge, get a PS3. I almost didnt cuz of the shitstorm of press that says - PS3 crashes constantly during game/movie playback, it overheats, sounds like a jet engine when u turn it on, required remote for BR, games suck, cripple processor, etc)

Its complete BS. Full HD movie playback (1080p) under a cell optimized media center can be seen here:
http://ps3mods.blogspot.com/2007/01/...lv-player.html

Cripple processor my ass. Write a media center for a cell processor instead of trying playback on PPC (g4) optimized codec, and you see how "crippled" the processor is.

Anyone who has any doubts or concerns because of the blatant lies spread by fanboys - think and choose for yourself, dont let others influence your decision.

And for those who wonder - I used xbox1 strictly for XBMC(Anyone who has every used XBMC knows its the definitive standard in SD media centers) - I dont really care about gameplay, Im more music and movies, maybe playing games 6-10 times (and boy is resistance phenominal) in a month. So fanboys need not respond.

I tried posting a complete experience with PS3 and blu ray movies last night at AVS, but they deleted it by this morning for some reason. It was completely unbiased in every way. Ohh well.

Avoid the hype, avoid the lies - think for yourself, try a PS3 before you knock it cuz of bad and misleading press.

Default I forgot to add -

Not only was the connectivity and functionality perfect out of the box, but the bluray playback was effing amazing.

It only supports 1080i/p atm, but supposedly 720p will be possibly shortly through firmware updates. I dont recommend buying one soley on the hopes of a 720p BR player, plans can and often do change. As tv prices continue to drop on 1080p sets, sony may see it fruitless to follow through on a 720p update. not likely, but just an example)

If your like me, youve been enjoying HD content from a media center for a while from XBMC. While it can do some 720p mpeg2 and DivX playback, it stutters during very high bitrates. the good ones like AVC/.264 dont even play at 480p.

Well let me tell you - full HD playback (not shitty internet encoded downloads) from BR is unlike any experience Ive had yet. Coupled with the fact cell optimized media centers are in development (all the goodies can playback at full 1080p - FLV, AVC/.264, MP4HD, in addition to HD and standard xvid, divx, etc etc) -

the PS3 may be the XBMC killer that I have been looking for. the ps3 is definitely not an xbmc killer yet - but it will be once a proper media center is released.

With outstanding gameplay, free (not great but improving and getting there) online, etc etc, ps3 is true blessing to any hardcore media/game/HD phile

Agreed. Some useful info is to be gained from the official PS3 forums but so many people complain it's make me want to stab my eyes out.
