Default Blu-ray contents must haves

Is the extra content important to you??

I for one look for the extras...If I'm going to replace the dvd's for blu rays...I want more for my buck than just a pretty picture...sure its great..but a great tv makes a huge difference also...

The fantastic Four blu ray was not the extended edition and did not have any extra more content than the regular dvd.

They have claimed that Blu Ray holds 5 times more data than conventional dvd's...yet for the most part they are not using it....only a few dvd's actually use all the space...

give us something...commentaries, behind the scenes......something......

I feel cheated if they dont give us something extra.

Extra content is nice.

But it is PQ that is the MAIN selling point of Blu-ray.

And as I get older my eyes really are thankful for it.

Unless it carries over all the extras from the DVD release... and/or more, I don't upgrade.

I love extras. And there's no reason that with the space available we should be getting bare bone releases.

cough cough...bare bones.....aka Kingdom of Heaven...How do you go from a 4-disk dvd set to a 1 disk blu-ray with only a theatrical trailer?

The extra contents I'm mainly interested in is deleted/extended scenes and any HD music videos that were made for the movie.

PQ first, then AQ. Extras don't matter to me at all.

I love all the extra's I never watch them much though. I am more interested in excellent PQ/AQ and I do like the trailers. If I have not seen the movie in a while or I am having my wife watch something she never has seen before then I like to watch the trailer. ...................... But I do want to see the studio's start packing everything possible on the discs. At the prices most studio's want there better be something for my money on there. Regardless if I watch it or not. I want the option.

I agree with you, sfmarine, because the same thing can be said for Big Fish. When Sony first released it on DVD, it had a ton of extras. And then when they released Big Fish on Blu-ray, all we got was a Tim Burton commentary. While Big Fish may have been well-recommended for all Blu-ray collections, I may actually hold off on the current release until Sony releases a proper version of the film on Blu-ray, one with all the extras that were included on the regular DVD.

5 GB of space left on BD-25 to feature extras and improvise the ho hum encode.

Yeah, I don't really care about them either but if including them helps sell more blu-rays, I'm all for it.

The studios are following the same path they traveled when converting to DVD; release bare bones editions which will be snapped up by the early adaptors, then come out with the Special Edition and then the Super Duper Collector's Edition for the triple dip. We're already beginning to see that with the Special Edition of "300" that's coming soon. I'm keeping my DVD editions of things like "Lucky Number Slevin" "Big Fish" and many others that were released on Blu-Ray without any or all of the special features ported over.

No... not for me it isnt. Audio Quality is by far the most important thing in my opinion. There was a poll on here a while back. Alot of people agree with me. Anyway... Welcome to blu-ray.com

I don't care much for the extras, but I will usually watch any extended scenes, bloopers, and all the trailers. Don't care at all for "Making of" type features.

One thing I would like to see more of is including the unrated/extended cuts along with the theatrical release. With seamless branching this can be done easily without sacrificing PQ/AQ

I bet I'm in the minority on this, but I love it when there is PiP commentary.

I can take it or leave it.

I haven't yet watched an item of "extra content" on a BD. I have been meaning to put in Sunshine and turn on the PIP just to see it at work.

Ya...I'm a fan of BigFish too and I was ticked when I found out the bd release of BF was bare-bones.

Base on this comment and being foreign I will excepted that ALL titles come with Spanish subs, but as SD DVD not all have it, very disappointed because some favs have like 10 subs but no Spanish I don’t understand that since disc size is not a problem or is it?, I have purchased Twister and Hellboy in the rush I did not check about subs

At least for BRs US and Latin America are now same region
