Here's the big question...
I have a 320gb slim PS3 that I have connected to my 46" Panasonic TV at home with HDMI to HDMI. I've been wanting to take the console to another place, but there's no TV there, only PC monitors. The monitor is a Dell one (Not too sure on the model), but there's a VGA and DVI-D input in them (As I currently run a dual screen set-up using the DVI-D). I'm looking to hook up the PS3 to one of the monitors to play. I'm not bothered about sound, or quality (I'm happy with just standard SD gameplay), so I was thinking that I could use this cable? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT People have mentioned that it doesn't work due to the output being in HD and it needing HDCP and not working on monitors and other people have mentioned that it works fine. Can anyone help on this? I assumed that HDCP was needed for 720p/1080p etc, but could use the smaller SD resolutions? |

I use a 26" PC monitor in my bedroom. PS3 is connected to it via HDMI -> DVI cable. Obviously you need to connect another cable for audio, but it works just fine.
EDIT: And HDCP doesn't make a difference for high def content. As long as your TV is HDCP compliant it'll work fine I believe. I use mine at 720p or 1080i all the time (TV won't do 1080p). |

Composite cables (Red, White, Yellow) will work for sure but you'll only get 480p out of it (and stereo sound). These cables are included with the PS3. |
