Default Ps3 2.36 Update Question?

Is there any way to get an actual disc of this update as I am not that great with computers? What exactly do I need if I wanted to do it online? I really want DTS-HD so I need this update. Thanks for the help J.H.

I'm sure that there are games available that have that update. Not sure which ones though. If you want to download via the PS3, go to software update in the settings section of the XMB, and the PS3 will do all the work.

if your going to do it by ps3 you will need internet connection connected to your ps3 and from there just go where Nerdkiller said and if you already have internet connection if you have a playstation network account it should ask you to update your ps3

No I have never updated my PS3 the problem is that my internet connection is far from my HT setup. The only thing that Toshiba got right with HD-DVD was they sent the updates in the mail. I still get them and they have abandoned HD-DVD. I would gladly pay shipping on PS3 updates but they don't give you the option. Thanks again J.H.

J.H.,

This is the official update website for the PS3.
http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Ab...e/default.html

Do you have a USB flash drive stick? If not, they can be found at Wal-Mart for $20.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the option saying
Update using a PC »

From there just follow the instructions. It is very easy to follow, even if you are not computer savvy. Post in this thread if you find this method confusing, but I believe you will be able to understand it.

Well it did not work so I don't get it. I used a transend V30/1GB memory and I had someone who does computers for their business transfer it to the memory stick. I then took it home and the PS3 said it could not find any updates. So now I'm going to spend 50 dollars on this stupid game grid for the update. Needless to say I am upset with SONY and Blu-ray in general. They should send the updates in the mail as Toshiba does with HD-DVD! J.H.

Hi J.H,

You have to create a folder inside the memory stick, name the folder as PS3 and then inside that folder create another one and name it UPDATE. That's why your PS3 didn't recognize the update. You don't have to spend 50 dlls on an update. Also if you have a router see if it has wireless capabilities. Because you can connect you ps3 to the internet by wi-fi.

http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Using/UpdateSoftware

found this on the US playstation website - its official.

In order to create a folder o the memory stick you need to open the memory stick in 'My Computer' - if you have windows that is.

The 'My computer' shows what drives you you have on your computer. You should be able to double click on the icon for 'USB Stoarge'

Thanks for the help I'm not computer savvy enough for this obviously so I'm buying the game grid. No big deal just $59.99 for an update all though the game looks cool too so maybe I get two good things out of this. I wish Sony gave you the option to buy the updates at the cost of shipping at least. They have to know some people won't be able to download firmware updates. J.H.
