Hey Guys..I am new to this forum..I am planning to buy a blue ray player. I read some of the post and I am planning to buy the Sony BDPS300 Player..What do you all say? Shall i go for it? Also my concern is I found that player here http://www.checkcost.co.uk/sony-bdps...ayer/p/160903/ where around 21 or 22 stores are listed. In that pixmania is having this player for £206 while amazon has the same for £305..I want to know why is there such a huge difference in the prices between the two? Advice me guys..I am really confused..

Why not wait a few days and get a BDP-S350. I paid $217 for my S300 and it's worth every penny. But it's not worth much more. It's so slow.

I agree.I have the S300 from day one and it's a good player as long ad you keep it updated with firmware's, at this stage if you are looking for a stand alone i would for a few month's until the new players start hitting the market.

Get a Playstation 3. Its your only future proof blu-ray player. Plus for the price your getting a hell of a lot more bang for your buck. The first standalone's coming out with the new BD-Live 2.0 Profile will be double the price of the PS3.

Most people will recommend the PS3 since it is Future-proof and has the most features for the buck. It is also always being upgraded and is already a profile 2.0 player.
I say, go with whatever you want. But if you want a stand alone player, I'd wait a little bit. Wait until the prices drop (as they are expected to this 3rd quarter) and ore profile 2.0 players are out. Profile 2.0 can play BD-Live (aka online features) while 1.1 can support PiP (picture in picture) and 1.0 can play the movies and most other extras. If you don't mind not having internet content, get a 1.1 profile player. |

Go PS3. Upgrades all the time, new features being added, fast processor versus many standalones (this means very little time spent waiting for your movie to load). Use it to surf the web, great DVD upconversion, decodes the highest quality audio on it's own. Oh, and yes, it plays games too.
What are you waiting for??? Spend the extra cash (or wait a little longer and save it up) and get a PS3 |

I would also vote for PS3. I actually use mine to play music (it is on shuffle for about 4500 music files and 18 000 pictures). These are all stored in my computer and are streamed to the PS3 via built in WIFI. I also use it for visual stuff, occasionally (Legend of Jazz on Blu Ray....Brrrrrr).
Bear in mind, the PS3 has an occasional fan that kicks in and it is flippin' noisy. |

I weighed all my choices very carefully several months back when I bought my BD player, and after weighing all the options: price, hd audio, easy firmware updates, etc. I chose the PS3 and couldn't be happier. My dad has the BDP 300 and it is VERY slow. It also has had some issues playing some blurays and I keep him up to date with his firmware. If u want a standalone though, i would wait for the bdp-350.

Just do your research and figure out what best fits your needs... Just be aware that standalones boot up the discs slowly compared to a PS3... Now that may not be a big deal to you, but it is to alot of people... My friend has a samsung blu-ray player and it takes literaly minutes to boot up some discs that my PS3 takes 10 seconds or less to boot up... Good luck and have fun...
