Default Circuit City DLP Trade-up?

The bulb just burned out on my Mitsubishi 52" DLP. I've convinced my wife that Circuit City will allow us to trade up to a 73". Does anyone know if Circuit City will do that?

If by selling your old one on Craigslist - and money laundering the rest for the new TV - sure!

Good luck!

But sorry, I've got no idea - this was too just to pass up.

I'm sure the wife wouldn't mind throwing in a few hundreds with the whites.

Best Buy has the brand new 73" Mitsubishi 73735 that just came out for only $2,091 right now. My father bought 1 today. Circuit City wants $2,999 for the same TV.

Don't know how long it will be so cheap, I have a feeling somebody made a mistake.

If you have a warranty with them, they will replace the bulb. If you dont, they will laugh at you.
If you want a new TV, you are better off having them replace the bulb ( if you have the warranty) or buying a new bulb for like $150, and then selling the TV.

I stuck my nose in this one because I have a dlp also, and have been wondering how much longer it will be before I need a bulb! I dont really think $150 is cheap for just a bulb! should be some warning signs before it goes, but it may vary from one tv to another.

The bulb in my SXRD went just yesterday. No warning at all. Just a big, loud pop that scared the piss right out of me. Sony store wanted $299 plus shipping for the bulb and it's on backorder until August 8th. I found it at another online retailer (same exact thing that Sony sells) for about $100 less with overnight shipping (it just arrived a bit ago). Anyhow, my bulb lasted from September 2006 until now, so almost 2 years.

I bought a 4-year extended warranty when I bought the tv. I've had it for almost 2 years and the bulb went out a few days ago. They're shipping me a new bulb, which regularly costs $250. I've been told that bulbs last about 2 years.

Just out of curiosity, did you use your tv for alot of hours daily? Mine usually gets about 3 hours a day on average.

The tv was on about 8 to 10 hours a day. Sometimes less. But a lot of it has to do with your settings as well. If you run it in full torch mode, expect it to go out quicker.

I knew that the bulbs would go out every couple of years, but I still bought a DLP because of how great the picture looks.
