Default How to get the best pq and aq from my bluray player on to my tv???

Ok so right now I still have an older 5.1 surround sound system that I am going to upgrade to a bose system

Here is the main issue

I have a Samsung PN50A650. The tv is hooked up with an 1080p HDMI cable to my BDP S300.

Now I was wondering if there are certain settings on the tv and bluray player that I should turn on to recieve the best quality possible.

If anyone can help please let me know

Thanks in advance,
Jim

You can get the Digital Video Essentials HD Basics set up disc for about 20 bucks that will help you calibrate your TV to the best it can be without professional calibration.

You'll probably get a lot of posts regarding Bose . . . I'll leave you with this: research it a bit, and you'll find you can get something a lot better for less.

only thing i would recommend is to run a calibration disc on the player (Digital Video Essentials makes a good blu-ray one) to make sure your color settings are good, etc... you cant really improve the audio quality on the TV at all...

oh, one more thing... don't buy bose.

Onkyo has some good stuff, as does Yamaha, Denon (a bit more expensive), Sony and Pioneer. Just make sure you get something that decodes TrueHD and DTS HDMA. The Onkyo 605/606 does this, and is a very commonly used receiver 'round here.

onkyo is just the receiver brand (unless you're looking for a Home-Theatre-In-A-Box) but say you're currently looking at a Bose Lifestyle system, they run about $2000... for that price you could get the Onkyo 805 Receiver ($690) a couple Polk Audio Monitor 70 towers ($584) Polk Audio Monitor Series CS2 center ($180) Polk monitor 30 bookshelfs (as surrounds $100) and a BIC 12 Inch, 430 Watt subwoofer ($210)

Total price: $1764 (plus tax and shipping)

Total value over Bose system: 1000%
