Unfortunately, for one, i dont think the ps3 will recognize the mp3 player, but i could be wrong. but i do know that you need to have the songs on the hard drive to play them apparently..

Just try it. It's not like the unit is going to blow up in your face if it doesn't work.

Far as I've seen, the PS3 will only play music that you have on the internal HD. I've tried my media server, external usb devices and memory cards and they aren't recognized when you bring up the music menu to play in-game. Not like there's a vast amount of games that support it yet anyways, but maybe Sony will update this in a later firmware to support music from other sources.

No. And not just for the reasons cited above.

The Zune is evil and sucks.

Mostly because they use a propritary interface to guard/protect the digital content on the device, so it can't be accessed by third parties.

The CDs can't be CD-Rs or a compilation you made yourself. The PS3 must be online.

During the video explaining 2.40 or either on the FAQ about 2.40 on the PS Blog, they said only music on the hard drive could be used for in game music at this time, but they are looking into or working on other options.

Also, only games that support the ingame XMB use of ingame music would work. Currently no games have been patched. And some games before ingame XMB let you do this anyway. Like Super Stardust HD had a custom soundtrack feature and MLB08: The Show also has a custom soundtrack feature.

I think Sony will get there, but the ingame music option is still better on Xbox360. That lets you steam or use external media, including digital music players, while playing a game. I might be mandatory for games on the 360.

Like WriteSimply said, the system has to be online. Also, remember to push triangle to get to options and select "Obtain CD Information"
