Um, I was wondering if those of you who have digital projectors and 100+ screens bought the projector after HD discs were available--because blowing up a DVD will not look that good with all the compression; I have no idea what a laserdisc will look like on a large screen--probably blurry?
So, did you guys buy a projector after HDM was available or had it before?

Before, in 2004 in fact. DVD look soft, some look good, other like crap. The thing is , the peak of DVD quality was in 2001-2004... after that it all gone to hell. Recent release are quite crappy too, depending on studio. Disney still does a Ok job.. but most studio DNR and EE there title to death..

My ex-roommate had one before I bought my PS3 and my HD projector. It was pretty low quality...but we just enjoyed having a 14' screen. Then of course I got my projector and we could never go back...cause holy crap...

I had a Sony projector with a 225cm wide screen since 1998, watching Laserdiscs, before I even bought a DVD player. The big picture alone was worth it! Of course Laserdiscs and DVD show their limited resolution and artefacts on this screen size, but I have seen movies in some theaters which were not much better. In november 2007 I bought a Blu-ray player, still watching on my Panasonic AE300 (540x960 pixel, no HDMI), but bought the Panasonic AE2000 3 weeks later.
