I realize there is a iPhone thread already, but its about the iPhone itself, and if people are talking about best apps I dont want to look through pages of iphone/app talk. So its just easier this way to have 2 diff threads
My Favorite that I have are MLB.com AT Bat - $4.99 - Its an updated live scoreboard of baseball games that also has video updates basically up to date. Shazam- Free - Ever listen to the radio and wonder the name of the song? Well with Shazam all you have to do is click on this app, press 1 button and it recognizes the song in >20 seconds giving you the Artist, Album, and Song name and the option to preview it. Others to look into Aim - Free Movies.app - Free AOL radio - Free |

This is a list of some of the apps I downloaded so far, to try out. I refuse to spend more than $0.99 at the moment just incase something turns out working like crap. But anyway...
Weather Bug - Free - Why would you download another weather app? I think the WeatherBug app is more detailed. The standard Weather app only gives you high and low temp, a little storm icon etc. The WeatherBug app has wind direction, heat index, humidity, dew point, alerts, gust. Also there is a radar option, as well as cameras. If you tap on a day, like Today it will give you even more detail about that day and evening. AIM - Free - Well put together app, only thing about it, if you use AIM, you know, the IM sounds! The only way i have found, to turn them off is to use the silent/ringer switch. The IMs look well too. Like the SMS app only with boxes instead of bubbles. Id prefer the SMS app to look more like AIM as far as messages go. You should be able to IM in landscape, but cannot unfortunately. NYTimes - Free - Not much to say except it is easier to navigate then trying to go to nytimes.com, you have access to latest news, business, opinion, photos and more at the bottom of the app. Facebook - Free - One of my favorite apps. Way better than the web app. has a chat option available as well. You have the option to take pictures and upload them directly to your facebook, update status, look at your profile, look at your friends list, chat, like i mentioned, and look at your inbox, also you can send messages to your friends, choosing to look at your list by who is online, or all your friends at once.*UPDATE* There is an update that came out today that lets you view more of a persons profile, and you can add a photo from your photo library, nice. Myspace - Free - My second favorite app. has a similar options like facebook. at the home section you can update your status, look at friend status', look at your profile, friend updates, you can see your comments, bulletins, search people. Compose and check mail, see pending friend requests, look at your friends list sorting it by top friends, All, Online, New, or Birthday. You can also add photos by taking one with the camera or choosing a photo from your library. I wish you could do that with the facebook app, maybe with an update eventually.See facebook update. ![]() iPint - Free - similar to iBeer except for free you get a game that uses the accelerometer. IMO way better than paying $2.99 for iBeer, heard bad things about that. iPint is good for some laughs. TapTap - Free - Similar to Guitar Hero, only you have 3 notes to tap. there is an option to play with one or two players. with two players you would sit the device between the two players and the notes for each would go to one end of the screen. At the moment there are only one or two tracks per difficulty with the option to download more. If this app costed money I would think it to be well worth it IMO. Bank of America Mobile Banking - Free - They need to do something to change this app. The main menu is nice but when you try to sign in it uses the terrible mobile banking website for Bank of America, an update is needed for this badly, but it is not bad if you are looking for a location of an ATM ect. Shopping List - $0.99 - Mainly bought this for my mom to use on her iPhone so she can get used to using the touch screen. Your screen will look like a piece of graph paper and you add items to it, like water for example, then on the side of the screen is a circle to tap that checks off the item as you pick it up. its something useful since paper lists get lost easily around my house. iNetwork Test - $0.99 - I think it is worth the $0.99 because it is presented better than a web app that tests your speed. It tests Wi-Fi, EDGE and 3G speeds, and keeps a record of the last 10 with a date, time and speed as well as longitude & latitude if you allow it to locate you. There is an option to create a free account on their website at iNetworkTest.com which has a global leaderboard, allows you to save all your results, and plot them on a map. Apple Remote - Free - Control iTunes on your computer with your device. I was really impressed with how it worked. you can play anything from iTunes with it. Box Office - Free - it can use your location to find a theater, or you can enter a zip code, works really well. can also put the theater on the maps app and you can get directions etc to it from there. Rotary Dialer - Free - Extremely useless but funny if you have time to spare, you can actually make calls with it, but can be a little time consuming to use it, lol. Anyway, thought I'd try to help out ![]() Last edited by Siri; 07-18-2008 at 08:58 PM. Reason: Updates |
