I don't know for certain, but I'd say they are stored with your PSN ID... the reason I say this is because when you go view your trophies it syncs up with the network.

Its stored in your PSN ID. Even if you buy an entirely new PS3, -or just sign in over at a friends house- Your trophies will automatically be found and shown when you press "trophies" on the xmb. So yeah... If you get a new Hard Drive your trophies will all still be there.

I just updated my PS3 from 60 to 320 GB.
When I started the first time with the 320 GB and PSN signed in, all my trophies where there ... but than!! I took the back-up from my 60 GB and put it onto my 320 GB and now I have alle my savegames, games, mediafiles ... but no more trophies!!!

Strange... I know that trophies aren't retroactive though. Maybe that's why they disappeared? Once the save data was re-initialized, perhaps it eliminated the trophies because it thought that you were trying to use other saves to add to your trophy collection?

But, what the hell do I know about it??? I don't have any trophy games yet.

Maybe I should try to play Stardust HD again and see, if the trophies are coming back to me

I hope you get them back! I've got my 320 GB HDD on order. Hope it was just a blip and they come back to you.

The same thing happened to me. You just need to re-sync with the trophy server. Just get one of the easy trophies again and all your trophies will re-appear after the first sync.

That's a crazy flaw - hope it's just Stardust.

It's possible there's another way to initiate a re-sync. That was just the first thing I tried and it worked. I don't think it has anything to do with Stardust.

I think but not 100% sure that if you compare trophies with someone on your friends list it does a resync. I think.
