"300" Regular DVD

I purchased the regular DVD of 300 about a year ago and never got around to watching it due to the sheer number of DVDS/Blu's I have. I put it in today and noticed just how HORRIBLE the PQ on it is. It is just awful. One of the grainiest movies that I have ever seen. Is this the consensus on this movie for others or is there something going on here on my end? How much better is the Blu version?

Haha. I figured that's what it was but my GOD I don't like it. I have seen intentional grain on movies like Grindhouse but this I just do NOT like.

The whole thing, I remember reading, was put there so that i resembled "flipping through the pages of the graphic novel."

I like it. But hey! Huzzah for differing opinions, and discussing them peacefully. I've yet to see Grindhouse and Death Proof, waiting on the BR releases. The BR does make it look clearer, though, more detail (albeit, behind the digitally added grain) - and the audio advantage is simply breathtaking.
