Default This or Onkyo 606?

I was wondering which one will be a better choice for me. This Sony or the onkyo 606? I believe mainly everybody gonna say the 606 but i got a question about this sony. Since the p3 decodes and send to the receiver will i be able to get all the hd audio with this one? Whats the pros and cons on buying the 606 over this item?

If you're looking for something closer to the Onkyo TX-SR606 then look into the Sony STR-DG820. It's one step above the receiver you linked to. I think the 820 has the ability to do all the HD sound formats just as the Onkyo TX-SR606.

The problem with the Sony receivers is that unless you are looking at the ES series you will not be getting the frequency ranges available through equivalent models in the Onkyo catalogue.

Sony receivers tend to only output up to 1KHz or 2KHz if you are lucky. Onkyo receivers output up to 20KHz, which gives every possible sound detail that you could ever possibly hear. This is the difference between hearing a window shatter with the small pieces "sort of" hitting the ground and hearing a window shatter with all tens of thousands of shards tingling around your room at the utmost detail. Don't settle for a flat sound field. Go with the Onkyo.
